Pickpick

Donna Jackson Nakazawa is a favorite nonfiction author of mine. This is her latest, and publishes in January 2020. It introduces a component of our brains called microglia to the general public. Studying microglia proves that brain, mind, and body are intimately tied together. Nakazawa is a journalist / patient who writes for patients. She‘s the advocate you‘ve always wanted. ⬇️

BarbaraTheBibliophage Read this if you like learning more about how your body, especially your brain, works. You‘ll see how the science of microglia is already changing what we know about our brains. Definitely recommended for people with neurological, autoimmune, and mental health conditions of all kinds (and the people in their lives). 5y
The_Real_Nani I love the cover! 5y
The_Real_Nani And I‘m definitely add this to my stack. Ever since I got my cochlear implant, I‘ve been in awe of my brain. LOL 5y

Messed with my reading plans to slide this book up to the top of my ARC list. And it‘s just so stinking fascinating...if you like to read about brain cells, like me.

#TIL that microglia are the brain-based component of the immune system, which science didn‘t acknowledge until ridiculously recently. #NFNov

I‘ve had several conversations on Twitter with this author. And then she tweeted me about her book being on NetGalley. What a lovely person! (And smart to get people to NetGalley.) I recommend her work!

Hope the approval comes through in time for #NFNov ...

LauraJ Sounds like something I would love! Off to NetGalley... 5y
