Eggs @nu-bibliophile The nicest part was that while I ate, Mom sat across the table and read to me😢❤️ 5y

#AndItsAugust Shoebag, a cockroach turned human, is an #UnusualNarrator.
#AugustGrrrl Dave Pelzer's childhood was utterly horrendous. It's a wonder he managed to #LiveToTell his story, but live he did. I highly recommend this gut wrenching book, though it's not for the faint of heart.
#BackToReading I ❤️ my paperback copy (same cover as pictured) of To Kill a Mockingbird. #BannedBookLove

Cinfhen I'm too emotional to read those type of stories 😭 my heart goes out to the author 7y
monkeygirlsmama @Cinfhen I hear ya on that front. 😶 When I read the first one I absolutely loved it, which seems like a ridiculously terrible thing to say. I hated how he was treated, by his own mother no less. And still there was something remarkable, I suppose his resilience, that drew me in and made me rush out for the other two books. It broke me to read them but they were so good. 7y
Cinfhen #resilience is the first word that popped into my head, as well. I'm always amazed at what the human mind and body can endure. Just wish it wasn't necessary 😞 7y
