Sin du Jour mixes it up in this book when a last minute Hollywood gig pulls half the team out west. Turns out it was a ploy to split folks up making it easier to pick folks off. And the assassins of choice? Evil holiday characters...like Cupid and Santa. So if you ever thought the life-sized Easter Bunny was slightly terrifying, there's a reason for that. It may be a demonic assassin. Just be careful who you hand your kids off to for photos.

After yesterday‘s seven hour drive home, I spent over half my work day at a stand up desk. I‘m still stiff so now I‘m stretching out while the nibling plays with chalk.

I really think that Wallace is writing one of the best urban fantasy series currently in publication, not least because every one of the Sin du Jour novellas has made me laugh out loud at least once :). That continues in Pride's Spell, where Wallace cheerfully excoriates Hollywood's inability to be as progressive as the rest of the world wants and needs it to be. Also feature what's probably the best climax and ending in the series so far :).

Mayread Does it have to do w 90% of people being too scared to make something unique so they produce by committee and make crap that's also got a helping of casual racism? That could be a slight possibility. 8y
kammartinez @Skiles Partially, yes :D. Or rather, Wallace speculates on the nature of the power-brokers who determine what gets made and what becomes successful. His idea is intended to be comedic of course, but there's a nugget of truth underneath the hilarity of what Wallace proposes ;). 8y
Mayread Of you want to read about some wild stuff-- look up Ryan Kavanaugh & Relativity. It's what happens when Hedge Fund peeps go Hollywood. 8y

kammartinez @Skiles I dug up a Vulture article on Kavanaugh and Relativity. Good gods, the madness of it all! It almost seems hard to believe that no one thought that his claims were a little TOO good to be true. 8y
Mayread @kammartinez I knew people who worked for him. He was notorious for sending out offensive, insane emails. I always figured someone that unhinged had to have something super shady in their closet. Yup. 8y
kammartinez @Skiles Oof! Delusional AND offensive: not a very good combination :|. But I do wonder at just how powerful his charisma was; that seemed to be a constant throughout the article I read, how people would just accept whatever he said as long as he was saying it to them in person. 8y
