Any sauerkraut makers on Litsy with advice to give? I bought this gorgeous fermenting crock today and I‘m nervously jumping in. #fermenting #locavore
Leftcoastzen What a beautiful crock ! 1y
Lcsmcat @Leftcoastzen I‘m lucky enough to live close to Seagrove, with more potters per square mile than anywhere in the US. https://www.heartofnorthcarolina.com/cities-and-towns/seagrove.htm 1y
Leftcoastzen OMG I‘d love that ! Fermentation is so great , not a sauerkraut fan . I helped my grandmother make pickles, both sweet & dill, love this book 1y

Lcsmcat @Leftcoastzen The potters almost all have online presences. Try filtering an Etsy search for shops in NC and you‘ll find some. I‘m starting with sauerkraut because it‘s supposed to be easiest, but I want to try other things too. Thanks for the book recommendation. I‘ve been eyeing that one, so it‘s good to hear from someone who‘s used it! 1y
Tamra I have made kimchi, but not in a crock. It is beautiful by the way! 😍 1y
Lcsmcat @Tamra Thanks! My husband loves kimchi. I‘m not a fan, but we may make a small batch for him. 1y
bnp Good luck. 1y
jewright I have helped my grandma and mom make it. We used to shred 60 cabbages a year. The key is to pack it very tightly. My grandma had a plate she put on top to keep it pressed down, and we skimmed the foam off every day. 1y
Lcsmcat @jewright Sixty cabbages!!! Wow. 1y
