pickStrange book but a gripping context of the Russian Revolution made it good to read. Lots of self-absorbed unpleasant characters (kind of the point of the book I think) and looking at family dynamics which I always enjoy. Very intense, not frustrating, fascinating read.
so-soThis is a character study of a girl growing up with a distant mother who is more focused on her looks and love life. The backdrop is WWI, which seems to have little impact on their lives, and neither woman allows it to distract them from their petty pursuits.
