A deep-cover CIA agent races across Europe to save the daughter he never knew in this electrifying debut thrilleran international sensation billed as Homeland meets Stieg Larsson that heralds the arrival of a new master sure to follow in the footsteps of Stieg Larsson, John Le Carr, and Graham Greene. In the end, you cannot hide who you are. Klara Wallden was raised by her grandparents on a remote archipelago in the Baltic Sea, learning to fish and hunt and sail a boat through a storm. Now, as an EU Parliament aide in Brussels, she is learning how to navigate the treacherous currents of international politics: the lines between friend and enemy, truth and lies. But Klara has accidentally seen something she shouldnt have: a laptop containing information so sensitive that someone will kill to keep hidden. Suddenly, she is thrown into a terrifying chase across Europe, with no idea who is hunting her or why. Meanwhile, in Virginia, an old spy hides from his past. Once, he was a man of action, an operative so dedicated that he abandoned his infant daughter to keep his cover. Now, he is the only man who can save Klara . . . and she is the only woman who can allow him to lay old ghosts to rest.

Pickpick

Klara is a Swede working for the EU in #Belgium where she is contacted by a former boyfriend who is in trouble. Her father, a CIA agent she‘s never known, is trying to protect her. This story was a little hard to get into, as it has a lot of moving parts to set up, but once it came together I enjoyed it. A bit forgettable, but a fun listen.

Librarybelle I tend to only listen to fun listens, since I only really listen to audiobooks in the car. Less distraction! 5y

Mehso-so

This book was fine, but forgettable. The ending was a little too tidy and not all that believable.

I wish sleep wasn't required to sustain life. I'd get much more reading done.

anwade88 Actually, then again, if that was also true for the kids I'd probably never get reading done 😂 8y

Not even 100 pages in and there are two main plot lines occurring in three different countries with four main characters. That's a lot to follow.

So I decided to look through my library's fiction shelves starting with the last shelf and moving backwards through the alphabet. This was my first choice.
