2 posts | 1 read | 1 to read
Alex Chevalier is a hockey player, and a student at a prestigious private school. She spends her days dreaming about dragons, but even dragons aren’t enough to distract her when a new student comes to her school, bringing with him secrets and intrigue. Alex is invited to an elite boarding school, where she discovers an amazing secret, hidden from the world for more than twenty years: dragons are real. She is to become the figurehead for the species, and will help when they are revealed to the world.
Fast forward. Alex and her dragon, Stellar, are sent on their final mission, when disaster strikes and they are captured. As time goes on and more secrets are revealed, Alex must decide: What is she willing to do to protect her friends, and are there some secrets that should remain in darkness?

The Science of Dragons | Julie Kramer

Sitting here reading the sequel to this (The Journey of Dragons) and decided to check out most of the books I have read this year on here... turns out not a lot of them are (this one wasn't either). Anyone else read a lot of self-published books? It seems I have been lately, with just a few traditionally published thrown in.

Pickpick

The descriptions Kramer gives of the dragons and the scenery is mind-blowing. The dragons aren‘t like anything I‘ve heard of before, they have very unique qualities in this book. The thought of dragons existing in today‘s world is intriguing. This book makes you feel like you are 100% a part of the story, so much so you will have a hard time coming back to reality. It truly is a wonderful read! I loved this book and I'm reading book 2 now.

TheShaggyShepherd Welcome to litsy! I just joined a couple of days ago too! Try not to get as obsessed with it as me. 😂 5y
abookishescape @IvoryLunatic Thank you! Yeah I think that's already a problem. lol I'm having fun just going through and adding my 66 books I've read this year to my read list so far. Some of them though aren't on here yet.. like this one wasn't. lol 5y
TheShaggyShepherd @abookishescape I transferred my reading lists from goodreads but I‘m slowly writing reviews for my favorites from this year. It‘s hard to cut down my reviews to the word limit but it does make me think harder about choosing the right words. Your book sounds like a lot of fun! I love it when dragons are added into a story that‘s realistic. Have you read the Temeraire series? It‘s about Napoleon‘s time but with dragons! It‘s so much fun! 5y
abookishescape @IvoryLunatic No I have not. I'll have to add it to my list now! Sounds pretty interesting. 5y
