Really enjoyed this one. Although there were a few storylines that seemed a bit rushed/random, the overall story was engrossing, sad and hopeful. Loved these brothers, despite the many mistakes they both made.
I finished this book in two big sittings because I just didn't want to put it down. Lots of themes deeply explored here: coming out, bullying, stereotypes, and authenticity. When I read the description, I was like, hm, hockey? (I loved all the musical theater stuff.... a lot.)
A few odd things-- the ending twist threw me for a loop-- but over all, a great book about brothers (not enough of those) coming to terms with identity and their futures.
Good book and good premise. I loved the hockey part (thank you Check Please for getting me interested in the first place). There are some spots which are a bit eh, but overall definitely a book I'd recommend.
This is a combination #thankfulthursday post and a review. I'm thankful for this book for tackling really difficult topics that high schoolers face, including bullying, the prospect of coming out, and mental illness. I'm thankful that it exists, and I hope that the people who need it find it. And I'm thankful for my husband for letting me read so much and helping me take care of our sick dogs.
This book is SO GOOD!

The first line of this book is about as intriguing as you can get. It sets the tone for the story and gives us a peek at the narrator - we already know he's on the outside looking in, or at least that's what he wants us to believe. I'm hooked.
As for the last word - lives. Plural. I'm hoping that means the ending shows a future for both twins - but I don't know yet!

Happy #tuesdayshoesday! I was able to get a few pages in before the workday started, and I'm already dressed for my lunchtime run. Every day is a busy day in this house.
On a different note, this book is SO GOOD. I wish I had a couple extra hours to just fly through it!

I'm loving JERKBAIT so far! It's been super easy to get into, plus HOCKEY. I will always take more hockey in my life.

I'm only a little ways into this one, and I'm already enjoying the voice and writing style immensely. The author and I follow each other on Twitter, so I've been dying to read this book. I can't wait until I have a little more time to dive in.

This book was good and deals with a closeted teen athlete's attempts at suicide and what that means for his twin brother and their home life. I am happy that this book exists and that gay teens actually have books where they can see partial reflections of themselves. That said, I had some problems with this book that I'm having trouble putting my finger on. I just think there is a better version of this book inside the author.
Great debut novel. Kinda jumped the shark a bit near the end, but still a quality YA queer read. Would def recommend to YA patrons. #queerbooks #queerread #lgbtqia #lgbtq #queer #yabooks #youngadult

Despite a slightly over the top ending, I really enjoyed following the growth of Robbie and Tristan's relationship from "identical strangers" to brothers with a better understanding of one another. Full review: goo.gl/tvpSr6

Why yes I am in fact starting a new book though I'm the in middle of eleventy hundred other ones because I'm a free agent and also I couldn't go to sleep so you could say I'm making the most of this situation. #HelloOctober #InsomniaLitsy
I had high hopes, based on the premise, but the writing style just wasn't for me. It felt very overdramatic, and the main character flip flopped opinions so many times that I had no sympathy. I wanted to care about the main secondary character but I was too annoyed.
