pickReading this book is like having a conversation about life with Dr. Spock. 🖖 I always learn something new from Dr. Tyson as he puts to bed conspiracy theories with a clear and concise demonstration of logic and facts. I like the way he sees the universe, it makes me less afraid of learning.

📖 The outlaw ocean - 7 hours into this audio book, its not bad.
📖 Letter from an astrophysicist - 2 1/2 hours into this audio book and love it.
📖 The Atlantis Gene - Physical book, I have just started it and its slow but we will keep going and give it chance.

pickMy wife Lisa received Letters From An Astrophysicist with her ticket to see Neil deGrasse Tyson in Minneapolis last October. I was already booked that night.
This is a quick read, the letters come fast and furious and Neil's responses are often short and to the point. Like with all collections, not everything may be appealing to you but if you are a fan of science you will find this interesting at the very least. Neil has a way with words.
pickI enjoyed this book a lot. It is a collectiion of letters and emails that he has received and his responses. Very enlightening.
so-soI've always enjoyed DeGrasse Tyson's books, but he comes off kind of smug and arrogant in these letters. Often, I felt he didn't so much as answer the person's question as try to show how clever he could be. 3 💥💥💥
Between going to see Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (great movie!!) and dinner with friends, I didn't get much reading in today. Still on course for 24 hrs before 2020.

pickIf you couldn‘t tell from the posts and quotes, this one was a pick for me! Whether he is getting deep into scientific explanation or into something more personal, whether his responses were informative, funny, a sick burn or mic drop, or insightful and thought provoking...I enjoyed every letter he included and how he responded to them all.

Responding to a soldier stationed near Baghdad, who had written him a letter about reading his latest book in the field & how Baghdad featured in it historically, and the great conversations he was having with the locals about the history of their city.
He was asked to participate in the TV series Finding Your Roots, if you remember it took celebrities and tracked back through records their ancestors.
He declined...this was his declining letter. I love his view on this, he is related to everyone, literally everyone, so it doesn‘t really matter what sequence it comes in. 😏💙

I can tell already, this one is going to be good.
But then again, I‘ve always loved Neil‘s way of explaining the extraordinary with a great sense of humor, charm, and wonder.
Yesterday‘s book haul, which also included the newly published illustrated version of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (50% off). I bought these with a gift card I‘d gotten for my birthday in August and had saved to buy the HP. I‘ve already placed the HP in its special place on the shelf, so it‘s not in the photo.
I love the cover of the Tyson book. He read one of the letters in his Startalk panel at NY ComicCon last week
