A new mother finds her husband dead in their bed. A novel but based on the author‘s real experiences. Grief and struggle and love and guilt in the wake of tragedy. A tough read.

Bought at Dymocks, Collins Street, Melbourne in July 2020.
I enjoyed the quiet, confident clarity this writer brought to her experience of falling in love, losing a partner suddenly and becoming a single parent. A really honest take on grief, relationships and parenting set in Sweden.

I'm the first to admit that I have an unhealthy attraction to really sad, soul breaking books. And yet... This one was endlessly sad. I kept thinking maybe the author would provide some semblance of hope or optimism... Yet, that time never comes. I found the narrator unlikeable and sometimes hard to feel empathetic toward. Because this book was based on a true story, I was more inclined to review it favorably (out of guilt). ⭐⭐⭐
My opinion only:. Don't waste your time. She wrote a personal story, that at the beginning, she was a bitch. At the end, she was whinny and a brat.
Really insightful powerful book following a mother with a young baby following the unexpected death of her husband. Beautifully written looking at her relationships and a future after the worst has happened
