The Secret of Annexe 3: An Inspector Morse Mystery 7
The Secret of Annexe 3: An Inspector Morse Mystery 7 | Colin Dexter
8 posts | 7 read | 2 to read
FROM CWA CARTIER DIAMOND DAGGER AWARD WINNER COLIN DEXTER Morse sought to hide his disappointment. So many people in the Haworth Hotel that fateful evening had been wearing some sort of disguise - a change of dress, a change of make-up, a change of partner, a change of attitude, a change of life almost; and the man who had died had been the most consummate artist of them all ... Chief Inspector Morse seldom allowed himself to be caught up in New Year celebrations. So the murder inquiry in the festive hotel had a certain appeal. It was a crime worthy of the season. The corpse was still in fancy dress. And hardly a single guest at the Haworth had registered under a genuine name ... PRAISE FOR THE INSPECTOR MORSE SERIES "The Inspector Morse series, both the novels and the television dramas, are among the finest creations of British culture and are known and loved all over the world." I love the Inspector Morse stories and this is a great example of one that is more about the wider city of Oxford. A great plot and plenty of drama.

I think this would be one of my favourites in the Morse series. Quite a lot of detail in this one, and one that the reader can get their teeth stuck into as they try to theorise who the killer was and how they did it. Also a lot of Morse and Lewis in it, and dialogue between them, and between them and the suspects or witnesses. Recommended. #1986 #CenturyofBooksChallenge

Started reading this Inspector Morse Book, which is number 7 in the series and covers 1986 for my #CenturyReadingChallenge. 1/8 of the way through the book now but Morse is yet to appear!

TheEllieMo According to my very brief review on Goodreads, there‘s some good dialogue between Morse and Lewis on this one, so keep going, it‘s worth it! 5y

EadieB @Cinfhen That‘s because we do so many group reads. I told him before he hired his deputy (same as vice-principal) that he should hire me but he pretty much nixed that. I was going to get him a beautiful picture of the sea in Scotland for his office but he went ahead and hired someone else. (edited) 5y

After a disappointing 6th outing, Morse came back strong in this, the 7th of Colin Dexter‘s Inspector Morse novels. Some great dialogue between Morse and Lewis, and a much more believable storyline.
