A Dangerous Act of Kindness | L.P. Fergusson
6 posts | 3 read | 6 to read
What would you risk for a complete stranger?
When widow Millie Sanger finds injured enemy pilot Lukas Schiller on her farm, the distant war is suddenly at her doorstep. Compassionate Millie knows he’ll be killed if discovered, and makes the dangerous decision to offer him shelter from the storm.

On opposite sides of the inescapable conflict, the two strangers forge an unexpected and passionate bond. But as the snow thaws, the relentless fury of World War Two forces them apart, leaving only the haunting memories of what they shared, and an understanding that their secret must never see light.

As Millie’s dangerous act of kindness sets them on paths they never could have expected, those closest to them become their greatest threats, and the consequences of compassion prove deadly…

Finished the tagged book last night, which brought my stats up to this. Looking forward to getting as much reading in today (after I leave work) and tomorrow before #TheReadingRush ends. My goal is to finish at least one more physical or ebook, plus one audiobook (I only have 4 hours left on The Name of the Wind), and hit at least 1000 pages total.

Add me as a friend - I‘m @Kimberlone on there as well!

BookNightOwl Good luck with your reading rush! 5y

Set against the backdrop of WWII, this wartime love story allows you to believe in humanity, compassion, humility, love, forgiveness and hope while maintaining a semblance of loyalty to self and country. In the end, this one left me with a gentle smile on my face and much to think about. Would lead to some great bookclub discussion.

The authors note at the end provided a nice backdrop to her inspiration for this story.

I was looking around on Libby for a Terry Pratchett book and ran across across this. Has anyone read this book or is doing the Big Library Read?

Crazeedi I've seen it on there, but I have too many books to read now 5y
Crazeedi @TheSpineView and for once the book they chose actually looks interesting, so I may read it at some point. Usually the books they pick are like no to me 5y
TheSpineView @Crazeedi I had the same thought. 5y

Not too bad, got a little slow in the middle but all in all pretty good. I‘d give it 3.5 ⭐️ out of 5
