The thing about anthropomorphic animal books is that I'm always wary of it being cringey or twee. This graphic novel by a British children's author and illustrator hits all the right notes, though: charming, sweet, and just adorable, with the right kind of wit and humour. Plum is such a delight. I love the panel above for that glimpse into her "character". @Lindy has posted some excerpts here that showcases the beautiful art. Lovely comfort read.

Plum, the canine narrator of this illustrated diary, is “a whoosell—that‘s whippet mixed with Jack Russell and poodle.” Her favourite fragrance is fox poo.

I love going to the bookshop, partly because I love the smell of books, but also because I have noticed that people who like books are often very fond of dogs.

We went to stay with our friends in the country for New Year‘s Eve. It was just as comfy as I remembered. The chairs and sofas are for dogs, unlike at our house.

This is totally a #blameitonlitsy read. It was completely delightful and sweet. Plum is adorable and her diary for the year is both funny and just what I imagine my own silly, much loved dog would write. A cute book, with great illustrations. A nice relaxing read, appropriate for all ages although too long for most young children. I like that it's a snap shot of a dogs life and offers small lessons without being preachy

Plumdog by Emma Chichester Clark is an absolutely delightful graphic novel! Plum, a whippet mixed with Jack Russell and poodle, shares a year's worth of diary entries that will remind any dog owner of her own pooch's quirks.
