20 posts | 26 read | 9 to read
Jack Reacher returns in a heart-racing new novel from Lee Child, creator of "today's James Bond, a thriller hero we can't get enough of" (Ken Follett). In the next highly anticipated installment of Lee Child's acclaimed suspense series, Jack Reacher comes to the aid of an elderly couple . . . and confronts his most dangerous opponents yet.

I finally made it to the final Jack Reacher installment in the series written solely by Lee Child. Blue Moon exceeded my expectations. Reacher continues to be an invincible character, willing to take on two villainous gangs. He also wins the affection of a waitress tired of the tension and injustice in her town. Reacher‘s brief love affairs continue to entertain.

This book was fun, but it takes more suspension of disbelief than even the other Jack Reacher books I have read. It is set in the implausible situation of a midsize U.S. city ENTIRELY controlled by two organized crime gangs. Jack bumps into a guy deep in debt to one of the gangs and decides to help. The body count is comically high, and the other characters are good action ready sidekicks.

This one was not one of the better Jack Reacher tales. Same predictable storyline - ex military cop finds himself defending some innocent civilian in the middle of a no win scenario. Bad guy versus good guy stuff. But still it was an 'okay' read.

This book was brutal. I know that Lee Child has no qualms about having Reacher kill in the name of justice and good, but the body count in this one was ridiculous. That being said, I still loved it and read it in two days. #17of2020

I have to say, it wasn't my favorite Reacher story. A little too easy to overcome the bad guys and a little too much gratuitous killing. Usually Reacher doesn't kill without a personal reason.

I did read this morning that Lee Child is retiring and his younger brother will take over the series. I wonder if he hasn't already... 🤔

LEE CHILD‘s writing in Blue Moon is skillfully descriptive and masterfully intense. He makes it easy to visualize the old man with bulging pocket getting off the bus and walking down the street. Check out the full review https://www.bluestockingreviews.com/post/blue-moon

Yes, yes, Reacher is a back. Blue Moon is just a really great read, and has all the spirit of the early Jack Reacher novels. I loved the turf wars context, and there was just enough underlying social commentary to engage me too. Lee Child at his reliable best.

Newest Jack Reacher story by Lee Child. I have read them all (I think there are 23?). Quick 2 day read. Fun. Easy. Entertaining. I just bought Child‘s nonfiction book about what makes someone a hero character. I‘m interested to read his perspective.

Jack Reacher, my favorite character. Dealing with two mobs in an unnamed city. This story puts Reacher in a more humorous situation than usual, when he attempts to help an elderly couple solve a mob problem. I enjoyed reading about the ethnic problems of the mobs and their technological exploits and European/Russian culture. This is one of the best Reacher books.
