Romance, magic and an age-old prophecy - the first novel in a stunning new paranormal young adult series. Born Wicked is to witches what Twilight is to vampires! Our mother was a witch too, but she hid it better.I miss her.To me, the magic feels like a curse. According to the Brothers, it's devil-sent. Women who can do magic-they're either mad or wicked. So I will do everything in my power to protect myself and my sisters. Even if it means giving up my life - and my true love.Because if the Brothers discover our secret, we're destined for the asylum, or prison . . . or death.Praise for BORN WICKED:'A tale so captivating, you don't want it to end' - Andrea Cremer, New York Times bestselling author of the Nightshade seriesJessica Spotswood is a debut US author. She grew up in a tiny one-stoplight town in Pennsylvania. Now she lives in a gentrifying hipster neighbourhood in Washington, D.C. with her playwright husband and a cuddly cat named Monkey. She's never happier than when she's immersed in a good story, and swoony kissing scenes are her favourite. Born Wicked is her debut novel for teens.Check out the stunning trailer here www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZztqxA58iw@jessica_sheawww.jessicaspotswood.com

I very much enjoyed this, you can see the Atwood inspirations for the world setting all over. It could get a little repetitive at times but overall good book. I‘m excited to read the next in the series!

I really enjoyed this. It's the second time I've read this but I don't recall it before. 🤔 Now I need to read book 2.

#readingrush day 3

I have mixed feelings about this book starting with the MC, who dislikes bookstores and doesn‘t have time to read. Nope, I cannot relate.

(More detail on my thoughts in my GR review.)

Books: 5
Pages: 330 (so far today)/1,254 total
Badges 9 out of 14 😀

KathyWheeler My experience with people who say they don‘t have time to read is that they manage to find time for tv and social media. It‘s not that they don‘t have time to read; it‘s that they don‘t prioritize it. 5y
wanderinglynn @KathyWheeler In this case, the book is set in the late 1880s, so there‘s no TV or social media. 😂 So she really has no excuse. 5y
KathyWheeler @wanderinglynn No, she doesn‘t! 😄 5y

Had a few interesting twists I didn't see but overall teen bopperish. I wouldn't mind reading the next in the series.

Oh my god! I want to kill so many people right now! I wanted a happily ever after! Why?!

Okay so I loved the emphasis on the use of religion to control women with claims of witchcraft! I need to see more of the magic used like at the end cause...there's gotta be a BIG battle by the end of this trilogy and I am SO EXCITED FOR THAT! I also appreciated the sibling struggle cause...as someone with 3 siblings...we don't all sing cumbia 24/7/365

iread2much Sounds good! How‘s the writing style? 7y
AshHisson Ah, spoilers! 7y
SassenachTheBookWizard @iread2much I had no issues with it or the pacing? 7y
iread2much Thanks! I‘ve added it to my list of books to read 😄 7y

Great start to this series! Magical witch sisters, love triangle in an alternative past that is a little Handmaid's Tale-esque. Plot is a little thin but I will definitely keep reading. #RogueBookBingo

I read this book based on @Nitpickyabouttrains reaction to the end. It is so worth it! It's interesting to follow how the three sisters handle their magic.

I never realized just how few pink books I own. I don't gravitate to pink, never have. I'm more of a purple or plum gal, but the #riotgrams of the day is #pinkcovers so here ya go. 💟💗

It took me a little while to get in. But by the end I was yelling at the book, which is always a good sign. #bookbingo #roguebookbingo #bookwithmagic

This was okay. I thought it would be awesome- 3 sisters destined to be the most powerful and to bring about a new movement of strong and capable witches? Sounds awesome right? Well it was severely lacking in likeable characters.

If you haven't read this book you need to and I'd like to thank @amanduhduh for suggesting it. Puritanical society where three sisters are witches where magic is illegal. It's so good. Feel free to freak out to me because it will happen. It happened to me.
