Fearless Traveller: Tips to Get You There and Keep You Happy | Charlotte Beech
1 post | 1 to read
As author Charlotte Beech points out. she wasn't born a fearless traveler. Although she's traveled far and wide for years, she's learned her lessons the hard way. And with each hiccup came insight. If we all started with a thorough knowledge of seasoned travelers' pitfalls, gaffes and slip-ups, we could set about steering our own path more confidently. That's precisely what this book offers. It's an accumulation of Charlotte's own and other travelers' hindsight, wisdom, hints and ploys to arm any adventurer setting off into the wide blue yonder. So if you're planning to scale Mount Everest, lose yourself in the jungle, take your family to Disneyland, relax on a cruise ship or discover the perfect skinny-dipping location, all the advice, hints, and tips you need to get you there, and stay happy once you've arrived, are right here. You'll find advice on: forward planning; packing; buying tickets; money/insurance; getting around; traveling alone, with friends or family; shopping/bartering; food and drink/eating out; safety tips; avoiding amorous advances; staying healthy; becoming a "wired traveler" armed with new gizmos and gadgets; coming home; keeping your memories: taking notes--e-mails/digital photos/downloading info/music/tapes. Charlotte's tips are clever, inspiring and useful.

I‘m headed out on a 10 day trip to visit Mom and the in-laws. In addition to my nook, which has lots of books on it (I won‘t say how many, but let‘s say it‘s in the 100s) I have all these books. I confess I added a 500+ page book in here this morning, as I suddenly HAD to read it immediately. Watch, I won‘t crack it the whole trip. 🙄😆 #bookwormproblems

HeathHof Ha ha! Safe travels! 5y
Leftcoastzen You belong here! I always pack what some would consider way too many books.😀👏📚 5y
Louise I think many of us can relate to this! It‘s a kind of separation anxiety—what if I need this book when I‘m away?! 5y

ljuliel Isn‘t it weird that when we go places, we need to bring books, even though we might not have much time to read them ? I think it‘s the thought of possibly having an hour to spare to yourself. If you don‘t have anything to READ , you almost go into panic mode. We went away for about 5 days to visit relatives. I didn‘t bring a book 😱. I actually borrowed my cousin‘s library card just to have books in my room. (edited) 5y
TheLudicReader Be prepared. 😀 5y
Prairiegirl_reading It‘s better to have them and not need them than need them and not have them! 5y
Chrissyreadit It‘s better to have too many than not enough! 5y
