Save Me, Kurt Cobain
Save Me, Kurt Cobain | Jenny Manzer
12 posts | 7 read | 12 to read
What if you discovered that Kurt Cobain was not only alive, but might be your real father? Thisnuanced and bittersweet YA debut will keep you guessing until the end. Nico Cavan has been adrift since her mother vanished when she was four--maternal abandonment isn't exactly something you can just get over. Staying invisible at school is how she copes--that and listening to alt music and summoning spirits on the Ouija board with her best friend and coconspirator in sarcasm, Obe. But when a chance discovery opens a window onto her mom's wild past, it sparks an idea in her brain that takes hold and won't let go. On a ferry departing Seattle, Nico encounters a slight blond guy with piercing blue eyes wearing a hooded jacket. Something in her heart tells her that this feeling she has might actually be the truth, so she follows him to a remote cabin in the Pacific Northwest. When she is stranded there by a winter storm, fear and darkness collide, and the only one who can save Nico might just be herself.

I went to the Dollar Tree looking for several things they didn‘t have but I did buy two books. This is the first one. #kurtcobain #cheapbooks

Maybe not Kurt. I feel confident that Lucas Davenport and pals could rescue me. If the kidnappers were totally incompetent, Stephanie Plum and Lula could probably handle it. #BookstotheRescue

the.bookish.valkyrie 😍I love Stephanie Plum and Lula is the best! 7y

Pickpick

A bittersweet coming of age story, with factoids of the late, great Kurt Cobain sprinkled throughout. I love how the author used him as a character and explores the question, "what if Kurt Cobain were still alive?" If you like YA and Cobain, I highly recommend.

My #faveaugustreads. Loved these a lot, and all for different reasons. #somethingforsept @RealLifeReading

RealLifeReading Ok I have no idea what Kill the Boy Band is about but after that title I know I have to go check it out. And also the Kurt Cobain! 8y
OriginalCyn620 @RealLifeReading They're both YA, quick reads, and great depictions of what a teenage girl goes through. Very different from each other, but both are worth the time. 8y

"Rarely does a novel present itself to such a wide audience. Males, females, romantics, thrill-seekers, and virtually any other lover of literature will most likely be completely wrapped up in Nico‘s intricate tale of loss, first love, and finding Kurt Cobain."

Connie You should also watch Montage of Heck. It gives a lot of insight on his early childhood, dysfunctional family, and living with Tracy. I believe his daughter was the producer too! 9y

This is a good story and it made me nostalgic for Nirvana on every single page. I enjoyed the heck out of it.
