Fire Study brought everything together in an explosive and compelling story. There wasn‘t a moment of respite as Yelena raced from one challenge to the next. And the characters readers have come to know and love are not safe in this final book. They will be put through the ringer as the warpers seek out anyway possible way to gain power and steal Yelena‘s soul.

How long before I get distracted by the lure of the next book in a series.

Let's not get stuck on the fact that I have had it on my shelf for more than 10 years

#workinghard

BehindthePages Oh this is a good series! I read it way before the following series was written. Maybe a re read is in order so I can read Dark Studies. 5y
margreads @Letora I read the first two books more than 10 years ago. I just reread those and they were so good!! 5y
TheAromaofBooks The author also has several short stories available to read on her website that fit between the actual books - definitely worth checking out!! 5y

The third in the series, this does a good job of wrapping up several plot points, but I am really glad that Snyder decided to continue the series from here! Yelena does so much growing as a person in this one. I didn't always agree with her choices, but she feels like a real person making mistakes and learning from them. I don't have the next three books (the series is there trilogies) but my new used copies should be here Saturday!!

⭐️⭐️ 💫 This book definitely did not live up to the level of the first 2. There seemed to be a lot of running around, getting kidnapped, being confused, and feeling like lots was happening when really not much was happening. I still liked the characters & enjoyed aspects of the magic as well as where the world is heading as we go into book 4. This did feel like an ending, so I‘m excited for a bit of a fresh start for the next books.

It's been over 6 months since I've been on Litsy! I'm so happy to be back. Enjoyed some rare rainy California weather yesterday with a new flavor from my favorite Cider brand and a good book. Hoping to bust my slump with a series I loved but never got to finish 💙

She can‘t do basic fire spells, fire warpers are her enemies and it allows for the line about getting burned if you play with fire.

Getting to meet authors is always such a treat. Maria V Snyder was fantastic. I'm in love with her stories and she is a genuinely awesome person. When I asked if her hand was hurting she said not at all. She then told us how she had signed books for 5 hrs once in Australia because she wanted to make sure all the people that waited in the long lines got personalized books ❤ Simply amazing

Really liked the first one, second one fell a little flat but wasn't bad, but this one... it took me months to finish it. The main character evolved into a selfish, know-it-all who I found almost insufferable. She was great in the first book! My sense of schadenfreude kept desiring her to get put in her place, and I actually almost rooted for the bad guys instead of her. I found the story kind of lost its way towards the end and was anticlimactic.

I really love this series but the middle books are so poorly written, I don't even understand. This is a reread and I was wondering if I'd still think so the second time around...yup.

I'm not ready to leave these characters behind. I have grown to love them so much and I know that other readers would too. I'll continue to put this series in as many hands as I can! I can't wait to fall further down the rabbit hole of Snyder's stories in this world.

Watching the grass grow with my headstrong friend Yelena of the Study series. She's back in the fray and I'm momentarily out of it, taking in the action from the back porch and armed with a cup of tea.
