Cut to the Quick
Cut to the Quick: Julian Kestrel #1 | Kate Ross
1 post | 6 read | 10 to read
Julian Kestrel is the walking definition of a Regency-era dandy. He cares about little beyond the perfection of his tailoring, he lives for the bon mot, and his life has the specific gravity and the fleeting charm of a soap-bubble. At least that's what he'd like you to think. In fact, it rather suits Kestrel to be perpetually underestimated, particularly when as in this instance his weekend at a glamorous country estate is spoiled by a dead girl's body being found in his bed.

Pickpick

This is the first of the Julian Kestrel series. I found Mr. Kestrel an interesting and entertaining gentleman. Not too much development of side characters, though I hope his Dr friend appears in subsequent books. Solid entry to, what will hopefully become, a solid mystery series.

Christy2318 I read the first two of this series. I liked them but not well enough to continue. I had read a lot of Sebastian St. Cyr around the same time and I was a bit burnt out on regency mystery. There are only four books in this series because she died young from breast cancer in 1998 9y
MichelleM I love the St. Cyr series! I didn't know that about this author but that's too bad. I'm not totally in love but will finish the series. I never get tired of Regency fiction. ☺️ 9y
