Mehso-so

I REALLY wanted to like this book but found it dense and confusing. H. P. Lovecraft's monsters are so famous yet it was just so overly descriptive I got lost. There is an overriding amazing story of a prehistoric society with amazing architecture, gruesome death of an exploration party and monsters. Yet at the end the narrator leaves his findings unspoken. There is a feel of Poe who is actually referenced, but much harder to read and more obscure.
