Brave, funny, and deeply moving. Franz Wisner, New York Times Bestselling author of Honeymoon with My Brother Three friends, each on the brink of a quarter-life crisis, make a pact to quit their high pressure New York City media jobs and leave behind their friends, boyfriends, and everything familiar to embark on a year-long backpacking adventure around the world in The Lost Girls.

These 3 made me want to travel to the UK, France, South Pacific, etc. I haven‘t made it to any of them yet...but someday! 🧳🗺

1. It wasn‘t exactly a book, but my art classes in college. The tagged book is one that makes me wish I had the money to travel the world.
2. Toss up between Croatia 🇭🇷, Slovenia 🇸🇮 and Italy 🇮🇹. I felt and still feel homesick for those countries even though I spent so little time there.
3. Back to one of the ones mentioned in #2.
4. Depends where I‘m going. I love road tripping!
5. I love both.

Being a wanderlusting gal, I loved this book and enjoyed how their friendship grew through thick and thin. I could have kept reading this one for another couple hundred pages

I truly loved this book and though the girls said they shortened it from its original length in order to be readable, I wished it would have gone on longer. I live for traveling and this kicked my wanderlust into high gear.

Bailedbailed

While I'm at it...

Reviewsbylola I may be a bad influence but I'm glad you bailed on this one. Book clubs are a great way to encourage you to read outside of your comfort zone but you shouldn't have to force yourself through a book you hate. You'll have to let us know what the other club members think of it! 8y
LitHousewife @Reviewsbylola You're so right. I'll post another review that's a combination of everyone else's thoughts. I'll be curious if some of the members closer to the age of these women will think. 8y
GirlInGreyBoots I read this book and, even though it had a few good moments, I wondered most of the way through if I should bail too. But I finished it. You're not missing much. It was okay, but it didn't get any more interesting. 8y
LitHousewife @GirlInGreyBoots I am really glad to hear that. I just wasn't interested in them at all. 8y

If the first 40 pages are any indication, this book could have been half as long. There is so much filler and that annoys me to no end. Are you over explaining how you got to a place where you could take a year off and travel because you feel guilty? I'm giving it another chapter for my book club. I may even just skip to their actual trip. I just don't know.

callunakeep I also cannot stand superfluous description and filler! If I can skip over multiple pages and miss nothing of the plot I lose interest fast! 8y
Reviewsbylola That's so tough! I hate bailing on book club books but it's also not worth it to read a book you aren't enjoying when there are so many good books waiting to be read. 8y
LitHousewife @callunakeep Exactly. Just get to the travel. That's why we picked the book in the first place. Sheesh! 8y
LitHousewife @Reviewsbylola I don't like to do it. I usually do just about anything to finish them. I've got just under 500 pages left of this by Tuesday. This does not bode well. I don't want to waste my weekend... 8y
intothehallofbooks This is one that I have on my mental to-read list but I had no idea it was >500 pages and contained filler. I REALLY want it to be exciting and awesome because I love GOOD stories like this! 😕 8y

Today is my day to start new books. My book club meets to discuss it Tuesday. There are 538 pages. I know this because I always locate the half way mark before I start reading. Don't ask me why. It is unlikely I'll finish it by Tuesday. I'm hoping that bringing everyone a bookmark will smooth things over. #bribery

BekahB HA! I do the same thing! I usually put a post-it note on the chapter that starts closest to the middle of the book. 8y
LitHousewife @BekahB We are the same! I need to know which is the first chapter after the middle. Bonus points when a chapter begins on the middle page. 🤓 8y
brendanmleonard Good luck! (I kind of need to know how many pages are in a book before I start...helps me plan my mental journey.) 8y

SusanInTiburon For sure getting one of your bookmarks will put everyone in a generous mood! 💖 8y
Codesailor It has pictures! My kind of book! 8y
LitHousewife @Codesailor Before you get too excited, that is the sum total of all pictures contained within. 😉 8y
Codesailor And just like that, @LitHousewife crushed my dreams 8y
LitHousewife @Codesailor 😂😂😂Does it make you feel better that I've bailed on it myself? 8y
