Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 Volume 2: No Future for You
Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 Volume 2: No Future for You | Brian K. Vaughan, Joss Whedon, Georges Jeanty; Cliff Richards
10 posts | 24 read | 2 to read
When a rogue debutant Slayer begins to use her power for evil, Giles is forced to recruit the rebellious Faith, who isnt exactly known for her good deeds. Giles offers Faith a clean slate if she can stop this snooty Slayer from wreaking total havoc--that is, if Buffy doesnt beat her to it. Georges Jeanty (The American Way) remains at the top of his game as series artist, and Whedon continues as Executive Producer in this direct follow-up to Season Seven of the smash-hit TV series. * Eisner award-winning writer Brian K. Vaughan (Y:The Last Man, Ex Machina) tackles Joss Whedons Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight. * Collecting issue #6-10 of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight series. * "The dialogue is Whedonesque and I can hear how the actors would read there lines. It's fun and witty and were treated to more fantastical stories than the WB/UPN could ever pony up the money to do." -Comic Book Resources Executive produced by Buffy creator Joss Whedon.

This volume isn't so much a Buffy story as a Faith and Giles one. And boy, is it good. Faith has to deal with all sorts of her own issues to get the job done and Giles gets to show off some of his badassery. Buffy does show up in this story but who cares.

So glad I kept going with this series cause I liked vol 2 WAY more than vol 1. I'm not totally sure why. Was it because Faith showed up in a major way and I love her and her badassery and her pain? Was it because there was lots of Willow and Buffy friend time? Was it because there was a Faith/Buffy fight--cough, sex-- scene? Is it that Brian K Vaughan is just good at writing comics and Joss Whedon is not? Whatever, I am pumped for the next one.

So far I am liking vol 2 MUCH more than vol 1. Oddly, although this is not written by Joss Whedon and the first vol was, this volume feels much more authentic in the characterization. EXCEPT, this little thing Faith says. Clearly Brian K Vaughan is unaware of the many sapphically charged things Faith said to Buffy throughout season 3. Given their ongoing chemistry in this book, pretty sure Faith is down to go downtown on at least one chick.

I couldn't settle my mind enough tonight to concentrate on actual reading, so I read the rest of this graphic novel instead. This one was really good! I'm looking forward to continuing the story. 👍

GypsyKat @julesG I bought all of season 8 when ComiXology was having a 50% off sale a while back. I LOVED the show, so I'm enjoying reading the continuing story. 7y

Attention fellow comic lovers! ComiXology is having a sale right now on Dark Horse comics. Since I'll probably be spending more on this sale than I should, and since misery loves company, I felt duty bound to share this news with my fellow Littens. 😉💸 #comiXology #comics #graphicnovels #booksale

leslieisreading Ooh I might need this for Buffy comics! 7y
GypsyKat @leslieisreading That's exactly what peaked my interest. 😆 7y

I love this one. This one is where Season 8 really starts to forge it's own path, which is ironic considering Buffy isn't even in it all that much. But, where the first book was reintroducing us and playing catch up, this one is really starting to tell a story. I will say that I'm 100% not invested in Twilight. Don't care yet at all, so hopefully that villain gets a bit more interesting.

Way better than the last volume. Might be my favorite Faith story (which is saying something since she's one of my favorite characters in the Buffyverse). Joss Whedon and Brian K. Vaughn are a match made in heaven.
