Pickpick

The central argument in this rich exploration of native religion is that tribal religion is spatial, rooted in specific place and the ties of community, and western religion is temporal, rooted in nonspecific time and the concept of history. Understanding the difference is ever more important as we face an earth riven by climate change. This is a worldview-altering read for anyone interested in how religion impacts humanity & the world around us.

Book exchange went well. I wound up picking God is Red by Vine Deloria Jr. The person picked it because he went to seminary with Vine. I have already read it early. What is funny is even though Vine went to seminary, he speaks against the church and points out it is in direct conflict with Native thought and is a major cause of Native problems. As a Native pastor, I loved it and agreed with much of it and am still a pastor :-)
