Having read this so shortly after Our Kids: The America Dream in Crisis was a #Powerful combination. If you aren't screwed by the opportunity gap in childhood, you're pretty likely to be screwed by the bottom-line mentality of the corporate world.

I was expecting a more robust examination of the downsizing of the professional class. It was more of a first-person account, light on research and heavy on anecdote. I won‘t pan it outright because the writing is good, just not what I expected.

This book, by the author of Nickel and Dimed is done with a similar premiss, but focusing on the middle class rather than the working class. Barbara Ehrenreich poses as an out of work event planner and learns about coaches, networking, and interviewing for a job market with limited opportunites.
