This book is about a little girl who hangs out at her local aquarium. It‘s about her relationships and feelings and I loved it.

First book of 2021 that I could literally not put down. It follows the story of a broken family that unfolds slowly at first and picks up in the latter half of the book. It centers on a 12 year old girl named Caitlin, longing for an extended family while being raised by her single mother. CW: intense but brief physical abuse, as well as emotional abuse. The story is still beautiful and the resolution at the end is intensely cathartic.
"Each thing that happens to us, each and every thing, it leaves some dent, and that dent will always be there. Each of us is a walking wreck."
Getting started on this book this morning before work. The author comes highly recommended. I hope I love it and have a new-to-me author to follow📚
On a different note: my #catsoflitsy are all in hiding this morning. Our neighbors are getting a new roof today and the noise is just too much for them. I must say that I understand and I‘m glad that I have to work today😉
Big day with the kids including the aquarium. Now that we are finally home, I can't bring myself to throw away our tickets. Why, you ask? Not for a scrapbook (haha, what is that?) , but rather because they would make excellent book marks. I never use "real" book marks - only ephemera like this. I'm not alone, right?

"The worst part of childhood is not knowing that bad things pass, that time passes. A terrible moment in childhood hovers with a kind of eternity, unbearable."
A small part of my tbr. #bookphotochallenge
Just devoured this beautiful book! Intensely horrifyingly emotional, you'll fall into it. The lead, Caitlin, loves learning and enjoys the beauty and mysteriousness of nature. Learning about human nature is a little harder though
Starting some Saturday reading - seems like a fitting choice after all the fish I saw at the reservoir today
