@vivastory I read Bierce's "The Damned Thing" in the tagged book about 1987, and enjoyed rereading it as I don't remember it from the first time. I agree that it has a Lovecraft feel, & the section titles are horrible and witty. The story I most remember from this is "The Lodger in Room 16", by little-known David Dixon, which really is shudder-making!
Quite why the publisher thought 65 stories was the right number for this series, I don't know ?
