Breaking the Silence
Breaking the Silence | Diane Chamberlain
Fans of Diane Chamberlain's emotional stories of family, love and lies will be absorbed by one of her earliest novelsa tale of dark secrets and redemption. Laura Brandon's promise to her dying father was simple: to visit an elderly woman she'd never heard of before. A woman who remembers nothingexcept the distant past. Visiting Sarah Tolley seemed a small enough sacrifice to make. But Laura's promise results in another death. Her husband's. And after their five-year-old daughter, Emma, witnesses her father's suicide, she refuses to talk about itto talk at all. Frantic and guilt ridden, Laura contacts the only person who may be able to help. A man she's met only oncesix years before. A man who doesn't know he's Emma's real father. Guided only by a child's silence and an old woman's fading memories, the two unravel a tale of love and despair, of bravery and unspeakable evil. A tale that's shrouded in silenceand that unbelievably links them all.

This is definitely an engaging read! I‘ve enjoyed it so much and it kept me guessing the outcome! I actually guessed it wrong, that was an unexpected ending for sure! I‘ve rated it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A woman‘s dying father extracts a promise from her that leads to the uncovering of a series of disturbing secrets that begin at a psychiatric hospital in the 50‘s. Lots of unexpected twists and turns. Fiction is based on actual experiments done on psychiatric patients. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montreal_experiments Multiple trigger warnings: suicide, abuse of psychiatric patients, childhood trauma.

My kindle tells me I‘ve read this, I remember it as vaguely ok 🤷‍♀️

Cinfhen I think I‘ve read one or two books by this author before & I remember them being pretty decent stories. Not outstanding but not trash 6y
Mdargusch It sounds like it would be pretty interesting! 6y
Reviewsbylola Books like that drive me nuts! When you know you‘ve read them but can‘t remember them at all! (edited) 6y
Caroline2 It‘s so weird when that happens isn‘t it. I actually bought a book, started reading it then realised I‘d already read it!!!! 🤦🏻‍♀️ what‘s all that about!!? 😆 6y
TrishB @Caroline2 that too! But only if I‘ve read in kindle - I think cos you don‘t get the full pictorial experience! 6y

Enjoying an earlier book of Diane Chamberlain's. So far it's just as good as her current ones...mysterious and full of surprises.
