Pickpick

(1) Jane V-M cracks me up, so I was disappointed she didn‘t narrate this audiobook.

(2) I‘ve read so many reviews lambasting Jane for painting Travis as a saint and Jodi as a vixen. JODI KILLED HIM IN COLD BLOOD AFTER ALL KINDS OF MANIPULATIVE BULLSHIT AND IT WAS PREMEDITATED. I don‘t give a shit if Travis liked kinky sex and said mean things to her on occasion. She is poisonous, toxic, and shit human being. Her damsel in distress act is BS.

Reviewsbylola @Meredith3 can I get a fucking amen?!? 6y

sammisho I remember watching the trial. I was on maternity and just sat on the couch, nursed my baby and watched Jodi... 6y
Leftcoastzen She is such a narcissistic sociopath! 6y
Meredith3 Omg you don‘t wanna ask me 😹. I was gonna say Jodi was just misunderstood😹😹😹jkjk. But for real- I agree for the most part, yes- BUT I try not to think anyone is a total shit human being.. Travis was prob just your regular fuck boy and Jodi just wasn‘t mentally stable enough to handle him not wanting to be in a relationship her- ya girl got serious issues. Definitely doesn‘t mean he deserved to die! Amen 🙏🏻 6y
Reviewsbylola Jodi would certainly agree with your assessment. Charles Manson is misunderstood too ya know. 😂😂😂 @Meredith3 6y
Meredith3 Honestly aren‘t they all??? @Reviewsbylola 6y

Other than the fact that an innocent man was brutally murdered, this book is kind of hilarious.

TheFunkyBookworm Oh man, I had some real issues with this author! 7y
catherine2 The writing is interesting, to say the least! 7y

To say that I‘m disappointed in this book/author would be a gross understatement. I followed the case closely and also watched the recent 3 part special, so this book didn‘t give me any info I didn‘t already know. I was however, disgusted with the author‘s portrayal of both Jodi and Travis- constantly slut shaming Jodi and making Travis a saint whose Morman convictions never could have stood a chance against this sexy she devil. Give me a break.

DivineDiana Hmm! 😬 7y
Jess7 Ohhh wow. Thanks for the honest review. This book has been on my radar. I own the kindle ebook of it. I think I‘ll skip it based on your review. 7y
TheFunkyBookworm @Jess7 I would skip it and see if u could find something else on the case instead. Yes she‘s a cold blooded killer- go in on her for that...but a lot of what Jane Mitchell relentlessly attacked her for didn‘t seem very fair. Travis was no innocent himself. The whole thing just left me feeling gross 😬 7y

Jess7 The strong feminist in me can already tell I probably wouldn‘t like it based on your description. 7y
DebBates101 Ugh! It is typical of any murder case: the murder is portrayed as entirely evil and the dead is revered as a perfect being. Theres a really good book that illustrates that well: The Life We Bury. But also, thx for the review cuz that is one book i will cross off 7y
TheFunkyBookworm @DebBates101 ohh that one sounds good! Adding it to the list- thanks! 💜 7y
Reviewsbylola Interesting perspective. I‘ve only read Juan Martinez‘s book on this case. 7y
riversong153 There was a Lifetime adaptation of this. Very strange story! 7y
GripLitGrl How was the 3 part TV series? I forgot about it till i read your post is it worth watching? 7y
TheFunkyBookworm @GripLitGrl oh it was great! Def worth watching- I think it was on Discovery ID? There was also a great 3 part special on Casey Anthony! 7y
guinsgirlreads Well I‘ll be staying away from this one if you didn‘t like it!! 👍🏻 7y

#FallIntoBooks Day 13: Guilty

I watched this trial and both sentencing trials. The case was definitely sensationalized- Mormons, sex, photos & murder. The interesting part about the trial, for me, is that in AZ the jury gets to ask questions of each witness. This case is the first thing that came to mind when I saw the Guilty prompt. I don't read tons of true crime bc most of it feels gratuitous, but this case sucked me in.
@RealLifeReading

RealBooks4ever Juan Martinez was great during that trial! 7y
