Oooh! I finished this middle grade book at work today and it was fantastic! I‘m looking for one more book to go with our summer kids book club. This is the story of a girl from the Kazakh nomads in Mongolia who defies her culture/stereotype to become an Eagle Hunter. ❤️

I discovered that there‘s a documentary about a 13-year-old girl in Mongolia who hunts with an eagle, just like the girl in the tagged book. I‘m going to watch it!

Girl-power adventure set among the nomadic Kazakhs of Mongolia. I like the nuances of chosen family in this, and, of course, the indomitable 13-year old girl who trains an eagle. Primary audience is children ages 9-13, but this would also be an engaging family read aloud.

In a land where girls are supposed to have hearts made of milk, Aisulu had a heart made of sky.

And here is something that is hard but true: a place can be perfect, and still not be enough.
