Pickpick

An early Dalziel and Pascoe that was pretty good. The three storylines kept things moving well, and there were some thoughtful moments and conversations around aging. Not entirely sure I buy the resolution of one of the storylines, but whatever.

Started my new audiobook, which is number 8 in the Dalziel and Pascoe Series. This series will take me to West Yorkshire for the #SeparatedByAPondTour

EadieB @Andrew65 Need to read this series as I have most of the books! I swapped about 30 books this week so if I can do that every week it will be good start to downsize my books. 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB It is quite a good series. There was a very good tv series of it many years ago. Dalziel is a cantankerous ‘fat man‘ and Pascoe a University Graduate. A real clash of cultures up north. Read all 8 so far since October. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IcnL9zCmbk4&list=PLdDiWbS9nICalFJjnC-0GVTsdO4XuAhe... 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 I think I‘ve seen a couple of shows. 5y

Andrew65 @EadieB It as a to watch show when it was on. Colin Buchanan who starred as Pascoe is the narrator for the audiobooks. 5y
TheAromaofBooks Thanks for the tag! I've heard of these but haven't read any of them yet. Side note: What is the difference between City of London and Greater London? 5y
Andrew65 @TheAromaofBooks The City of London is the historic centre of London and the financial / business district. It is known locally as the city and the square mile, as it only covers 1.12 square miles. This article gives more information on the wards covered as well as a map.

Andrew65 @TheAromaofBooks Greater London is the rest of London, most books will be set in Greater London. If it covers The Bank of England, St Paul‘s Cathedral, the Tower, Temple (figures in code type books), Barbican, the Old Bailey and London Bridge it will be the City of London.

Andrew65 @TheAromaofBooks Feel free to ask me at any time whether a certain location is in the City of London or Greater London as I was born and brought up in Greater London, however my dad and sister both worked in the City of London. Not lived in London since 1986 though. (edited) 5y
TheAromaofBooks Thank you so much for clarifying! That totally makes sense. I think that most of the London bits from How to Stop Time would be in Greater London, then. 5y
Andrew65 @TheAromaofBooks The city of London is such a small precise area it will be tricky to find some books that meet this requirement. I will do some research. I think some of the Da Vinci Code takes place in the City of London. (edited) 5y
Andrew65 @TheAromaofBooks These books come up in a search for books in the Tower of London, which should fit the City of London criteria. https://www.mappit.net/bookmap/places/1514/tower-of-london-london-england-gb/ (edited) 5y
Andrew65 @TheAromaofBooks This tales place in the city of London and I loved it when I read it. https://www.mappit.net/bookmap/books/45500/ratcatcher/ Historical Mystery (edited) 5y
TheAromaofBooks Thank you so much for the references!! Ratcatcher sounds fun - and a totally different type of Regency book from the romances I usually enjoy 😁 5y
Andrew65 @TheAromaofBooks I read Ratcatcher a few years ago and remember really enjoying it, as did my wife. I really need to get back to that series, only read the first one. It is only a short series - 6 books I believe. 5y
