May #wrapup
May was a great month for middle grade reads! I adored the Al Capone books and they were my favorite of the month.

Final read for #middlegardemay completed. I adore this series set at Alcatraz. There‘s plenty of interesting tidbits about living on the island in the 1930‘s that the author researched and then there are the lovable kids of the rock and their crazy shenanigans. A bit mysterious, heartfelt and good fun.
Entertaining, heartfelt, exciting sequel. My son gives it a strong 5 out of 5. I agree.

My son and his cat enjoying the Al Capone series by Gennifer Choldenko 😊
Just as good as book 1 in the series. A cute middle-grade historical fiction story that has realistic relationships among a group of kids living on Alcatraz.
"Moose," Annie asks ... "If you were to get married, how many kids would you want?" ... "Would they all play baseball?"
I shrug. "Why else would you have kids?"
Girls are impossible. Once they decide something, that's it. Guys make deals, make compromises, make things work. Girls just make trouble.
Just getting into book 2 of this series. I love the mc's voice and the first book's portrayal of a family living with a child with autism.
