Lazarus Volume 1
Lazarus Volume 1 | Greg Rucka
15 posts | 33 read | 13 to read
Collecting the first four issues of the Eisner-winning team of Rucka and Lark's critically acclaimed new series about Forever Carlyle, the Lazarus of the Carlyle Family. Included is the previously only-available-online, four-page short, "Family: Prelude." In a dystopian near-future, government is a quaint concept, resources are coveted, and possession is 100% of the law. A handful of Families rule, jealously guarding what they have and exploiting the Waste who struggle to survive in their domains. Forever Carlyle defends her family's holdings through deception and force as their protector, their Lazarus. Shot dead defending the family home, Forever's day goes downhill from there...

Another reread! As I have said, one of my goals is to reread this series in preparation for book 6. It had been about 2 years, or more, since my first read through and I wanted everything fresh in my mind for book 6. This series follows Forever, a Lazarus. She is the families defender and she is struggling with the person her family expects her to be & the person she wants to be. Good series! Enjoying the reread!

The next graphic novel series I want to catch up in is Lazarus. Volume 5 came out like 2 years ago, so I just assumed the series ended. But in a couple weeks, Volume 6 is coming out. So, I am refreshing my memory. I also have a non-numbered volume that I have not read yet. This is a series about Forever, a Lazarus. She is the families protector, but not everything is as it seems. I recommend this series! Good reread!

Ok confession time: I‘ve never read a graphic novel...*runs and hides*

Thank you SO much @Alicia for all my goodies — I‘m really excited to start this and the two books. 🤓 #dystopianblues

Wasn't what I was expecting, but enjoyed nonetheless. Thought it was going to be about zombies, but is about a woman who can't be killed, set in a dystopian world.

I really enjoyed this one. Lazarus takes place in a very militant dystopian near future. There are no national or political borders anymore. Certain powerful wealthy families control sections of North America. Each family has one member that is enhanced, a Lazarus that can't die. Eve is the Lazarus for the Carlyle family. This is her fascinating story. I'll definitely be reading the next volume. Thanks for this one @speljamr !

readinginthedark Sounds cool! 7y
TK421 It is @readinginthedark ! I really want to see how they develop her character in the next volumes. 7y
readinginthedark I‘ll have to see if my library has a copy of this! Although my stack of GNs to catch up on is a little out of hand right now... 😆🙈 7y

Lazarus vol 1
About: Set in the future where Families are the ruling party in the world. Each family has a member dubbed as the Lazarus who functions as a weapon when needed.

I picked this title up b/c I read that it‘ll be developed into a live action series by Amazon in the near future. And overall, I like it so far 👍 Action and intrigue. And butt-kicking female lead 😉 Bring in the next volume!

I stayed up way too late last night reading all 5 available volumes of this series. Absolutely no regrets - I'd totally do it again. This is such a great series. You've got sci-fi, dystopia, complex (to put it kindly) family dynamics, strong female protagonist, great writing paired with great art... the list goes on for things to love about Lazarus. Highly recommend.

AThousandLives87 I love Lazarus!!!!! 🖤🖤🖤 7y
hlgreenfield I need to read this! Sounds perfect! And I love the author!! 7y

My LCS recommended that I pick up this title a while back and I have to say that it was a really good recommendation. The first 4 issues set the stage of the world that the story inhabits and gives us a look into the main character of Forever Carlyle. I'm definitely interested in seeing where this story goes. I've already added the next 4 volumes to my hold list.

I've been away from Litsy FAR too long. Advent and the holidays (and all the ensuing travel) were madness. This book is ALSO madness of the best kind. Dystopian future controlled by powerful families protected by powerfully enhanced "family members?" I'm so in! This was my Christmas Eve book from hubs, and it made the first hour of Christmas Day travel fly by! Can't wait to get my hands on the rest! #comics

There is perhaps no one more awesome and badass than Lazarus. If you haven't checked out this series yet, I can't recommend it enough. It just keeps on being great with every new issue. #booktober #unforgettablewomen
