1. Honestly not much different than usual. I don‘t know any little kids in my neighborhood and I don‘t dress up.
2. I‘m extremely grateful that two people close to me are cancer free!

"All the Bad Apples is, in Moïra‘s words, built of equal parts hope and fury—it‘s about feminism and history, family and identity, and what happens when hidden truths are told. She wrote it as Ireland reeled from the findings of the Mother and Baby Homes Commission of Investigation, as grassroots feminist activists rallied to repeal the 8th amendment"
Lots of twists in this fictional story that shines a light on serious issues. The cover = ?
I could have read this book in one sitting but parceled it out over a few days because of its heavy topic as well as wanting to make it last a little longer. The author uses a bit of magic and ghosts to tell a very real story of women‘s reproductive rights in Ireland‘s past and recent history. I guessed one of the twists, and I knew some of the history from the film Philomena, but that didn‘t take away from the book‘s impact. #DoubleSpin for July
Sneaking in a little Thanksgiving reading before dinner.
This book gutted me. The story, the characters, and the writing. It‘s one of my favorite books I have read this year. But I sobbed in rage while reading the authors note at the end. This cover is also amazing.
I received an advanced copy of this book by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Deena and her two older sisters are from the Rys family. Rys women who are different & don‘t conform are cursed at age 17 as ‘bad apples‘. When Deena‘s oldest sister, Mandy is presumed dead, Deena believes that Mandy has set off to break the family curse.
The book involves folklore, magic, banshees, Irish history, & LGBTQIA+ issues. Yet I just didn‘t connect with it like other readers have. 3.5🌟 (5🌟for the cover).
One Day! Thats all it took for me to devour this book! Such a Beautiful story. I could not put it down. I love how History was intertwined throughout and how I was able to feel the emotions these women felt. Absolutely stunning book! â¤
Excited doesn't even cover how I'm feeling right now! I have been waiting MONTHS for this book to be released! So excited to jump in and be devoured by this story! â¤
The synopsis really does not do this book justice. I was expecting a creepy yet light teen mystery but this is much more than that. The historical fiction aspect of this plotline was surprising but welcomed. I learned a bit about a dark period in Ireland's history that I had not known about. In addition, there were some timely issues discussed.
