Mueller Report
Mueller Report | Department Of Justice
13 posts | 2 read | 5 to read
The ongoing Special Counsel investigation (also referred to as the Mueller Probe or Mueller Investigation) is a United States law enforcement and counterintelligence investigation of the Russian government's efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. This investigation includes any possible links or coordination between Donald Trump's presidential campaign and the Russian government, "and any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation." The scope of the investigation reportedly includes potential obstruction of justice by Trump and others. The investigation, since it began on May 17, 2017, has been conducted by the United States Department of Justice Special Counsel's Office, headed by Robert Mueller, a Republican and former Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). This book chronicles the legal actions Mueller has taken against Trump's associates in the 2016 Presidential Elections.

Appropriate bath time reading (tagged book) and bath bomb (Lush‘s Madame President 2019) usage today. For some strange reason, I thought a bath might cool me down as it‘s like an oven in the U.K. today and I‘ve done nothing but sweat.

wanderinglynn Ooh, that bath bomb looks awesome in the water. 💜 5y
Connster @wanderinglynn It smelled so good too!! 🛀 5y

#Booked2019 (Spring #SocialMedia Focus)

We waited a looooong time for this. Ultimately, it confirmed what many knew about the slimy underbelly of our social media's role in the U.S. 2016 election (and beyond) and other creepy U.S./Russia connections/deceptions. Unfortunately, not many clear conclusions drawn yet. *sigh*

@Cinfhen @4thhouseontheleft @BarbaraTheBibliophage

alisiakae Great pick for this prompt! And at the same time, I hate that this is the current state of affairs. 😬 This would also work well for the #politicalintrigue prompt. 6y
Karisa @4thhouseontheleft So true! It reads like ideas draft for a political thriller of corruption. 😥 6y

rretzler Downloaded this last night, but I‘m afraid that I will likely listen only to have it put me to sleep. I can‘t imagine how boring a listen it‘s going to be🤣 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @rretzler I‘m interested to find out. I thought reading would be boring, but it wasn‘t at all... unfortunately I‘ve been too busy to sit and read any more lately. 6y

Amandajoy How long is it? 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Amandajoy The file from Department of Justice, about 420 pages (some redacted), the audiobook from audible about 19 hours...I can‘t wait to see how they handle the redactions. 6y

This was so invasive! After all this came out, if Trump & spokespeople had said something like, “wow, the Russians really tried to influence our election, and we (almost) got sucked in as they dangled multiple baits in front of us....thank goodness they failed there. Let‘s organize now to protect our country & elections going forward.”

Instead on the Sunday news shows it was: we have to investigate the investigators who tried to frame us! 😕

TheBookbabeblog84 There is a lot about this entire thing that bothers me. I‘m upset mostly about the obstruction piece...How is getting away with that mess. Ugh. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @TheBookbabeblog84 I completely agree, and I haven‘t even gotten to Volume II yet (the obstruction part). It just amazes me that every time they might have been able to turn this thing around, and say by golly we were wrong, Russia bad, and maybe unite a bit, they always choose to double down and divide more. I couldn‘t believe how many times Giuliani mentioned Clinton today, not Russia, but Clinton and those that needed to be investigated ... 6y
TheBookbabeblog84 Giuliani‘s behavior doesn‘t surprise me. Actually the behavior of anyone in the camp does not surprise me. What bothers me is that GOP Congress people just aren‘t interested in admitting that Trump is an issue. Or corrupt. I honestly think they are okay with interference in elections if it gives them the upper hand. The moment it‘s doesn‘t ...well...then they do something about it. 6y

Riveted_Reader_Melissa @TheBookbabeblog84 ...for trying to frame Trump. If they put that much vehemence into saying instead, let‘s track down those that tried to trick the campaign (Russian assets), they could spin this story a completely new way. But they never have... which to me always makes them look even more guilty. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @TheBookbabeblog84 Right, and how dumb is that, because they can‘t count on a foreign country ever aiding with them indefinitely, they are going to play both sides for their own greater good, and demand more in return. ...it‘s like negotiating with a hostage taker, except in this case the hostage is our democracy. (edited) 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @TheBookbabeblog84 and that worries me A LOT, there have been a lot of Republicans who have visited Russia for meetings this year, especially before the midterms, which again, just by optics alone, makes them look worse. It‘s scary that they don‘t even care how it looks. (edited) 6y
TheBookbabeblog84 @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Yup. You got it. As a woman with a masters in CJ/Homeland Security, I am really disappointed that we are not doing more to protect our voting process. MSNBC gave some great info on just how vulnerable our system is. And it‘s scary. We know they hacked into a few states stuff. And they‘ll do it again. I told one of my friends. Trump will get have a second Trump. And It will be worse than the first. 6y
BkClubCare @TheBookbabeblog84 @Riveted_Reader_Melissa - and a 2nd Trump term scare for me is how he may get fanatical on how to get a 3rd. 6y
kspenmoll 😡 6y
TheBookbabeblog84 @BkClubCare I pray that he doesn‘t attempt that. Though some of his supporters are okay with dictators. 6y

That‘s very interesting, maybe in some ways it explains the Sanders fanatics a bit more too, those I‘ve seen referred to as “Bernie Bros”. They were also targeted to hate Clinton and think Trump was a better second choice to her, and feed a stream of how the DNC/Clinton machine treated them unfairly, and/or highlighted and expounded on any unfairness because they didn‘t want those voters returning to the Dem nominee, which was Clinton.

Karisa I've been reading it too. Very surprised at how "readable" it is for a legal report. I think they were hoping for many to read it and understand the situation our nation was/is facing. . . 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Karisa Yes, and Yay I‘m not the only one slowly reading through it! And yes, it is surprisingly easy to read. 6y

Hey, if these posts are annoying anyone, just let me know and I‘ll put them behind a spoiler tag or just keep them to myself.

It‘s so weird posting these here, since Litsy is a bit of a safe space for a lot of us, especially from political turmoil....and although I‘m reading this report like it‘s a Doris Kearns Goodwin or Bob Woodward novel, I know it may be very annoying for some people to see in their feed.

Please just let me know.

saresmoore I find it fascinating, though not enough to want to read it myself. 🙃 I appreciate your posts. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @saresmoore I find it fascinating too, but every time I post here I feel a bit guilty....like I‘m tainting our fun space with surreal real life. 6y

RebL I‘m reading fiction about a serial killer, whose behavior I don‘t approve of. I also don‘t super love racism, adultery, lying.... The Grapes of Wrath nearly spilt my family! Imagine how I feel about nonfictional misbehavior! You‘re fine as far as I‘m concerned. I do appreciate your concern for our community. 6y

That Appendix is redacted! Of course....

BUT because it is in outline form, it is numbered! Besides the cases we know of that are unredacted, (ie Manafort, Flynn, Comey, Stone, etc) there appear to be 12 redacted cases referred to the appropriate law enforcement authorities that we currently do NOT know about.

Geez, I‘m still at the beginning of this thing, but I have to put it down every few pages from sheer frustration.

That doesn‘t even sound like they were “cleared” cleared of conspiring to me... insufficient evidence to charge is very different from found innocent.

Reading this makes me think we need to subpoena some people, compel them to testify, and hold them in contempt if they lie!😱

That-Bookish-Hiker I‘ve been saying the same thing! But I think Trump and his administration don‘t care about the fact that this doesn‘t mean he is innocent. They just keep reiterating that they are innocent because they don‘t believe their supporters will bother to read the report themselves. They‘ll just believe what they say. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @That-Bookish-Hiker It sounds bad, and as I read it, it sounds worse....I don‘t know how anyone can go out there with a straight face and say “Totally Exonerated”. 🤯 6y
jillrhudy This is in the database? 🙂 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @jillrhudy Yes it is...The Mueller Report by The Department of Justice... it‘s also available on Nook now, and Kindle by the end of the month. 6y

This is what drives me crazy about this whole thing, no matter what your party or political beliefs, every America should be outraged at any interference and be demanding we take steps to safeguard the next election. Instead one party‘s been so bent on denying the whole thing ever happened, just in case their guy was in any way implicated, that any commission on preventing future interference has been completely stymied.

SW-T Agreed. 6y

Redactions in the Table of Contents at the beginning.... interesting. What are the ongoing matters?

Roger Stone would be my guess 🧐

AmyG I was also thinking Roger Stone. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @AmyG So far it‘s not as redacted as I expected. 6y
LauraJ I‘ve been so slammed today that I‘ve heard zero about this yet! 6y
See All 8 Comments
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @LauraJ It‘s free if you want to read it yourself. And so far, it probably depends on your beliefs before...but I‘d say he‘s a lot less “totally exonerated” than he claims, especially on the obstruction angle. But that‘s more what I‘ve heard today than read so far... I‘m just in the beginning. 6y
LauraJ @Riveted_Reader_Melissa That was my impression from the four page summary. Let us know when you get to the good stuff! 6y
AmyG I thought it would be more redacted, too. If Mueller exonerated Trump- he would have written so. He didn‘t. It‘s wild some of the stuff in there. Frigtening. I could go on and on. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @AmyG I know, the redactions that are bugging me the most so far, are the Personal Privacy ones....most of the the Harm to Ongoing cases I feel like I have a general idea which case that we know of, that‘s pending, that that blank most likely refers too. But the Personal Privacy, to me means someone not involved in a current case...I find myself wondering if those are mostly the family members.🤷‍♀️ 6y
Suet624 I imagine it would be the family matters or ways in which trump is compromised. 6y

Suet624 I‘m confused. Is it the redacted version? 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Suet624 Yes, the only version released was the redacted version released today. 6y
Suet624 I guess I imagined all the important stuff had been removed. I look forward to hearing what you think. (edited) 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Suet624 It‘s free on Nook or online at the Justice Department. It is about 400 pages long! Some pages are completely readable, some are redacted. But at least we‘ll know more about what Mueller actually reported then we have before today. 6y
Suet624 Absolutely. 6y
SW-T Part of me wants to read it, but I know the redactions will annoy me. 6y
