A charming and inspiring story about embracing your weird, written and illustrated by Criminal Minds actor/director, Matthew Gray Gubler. Rumple Buttercup has five crooked teeth, three strands of hair, green skin, and his left foot is slightly bigger than his right. He is weird. Join him and Candy Corn Carl (his imaginary friend made of trash) as they learn the joy of individuality as well as the magic of belonging.

Did I order a whole set of MGG postcards to send to the friend that cheerleads my current criminal minds phase and who puts up with me essentially live tweeting the episodes that make me nervous... (have to say her memory of criminal minds episodes is impressive) - YES I DID!

Texreader Who‘s the dude who got fired? My daughter played on a soccer team with his daughter for some years (before the firing). He was an enigmatic person. Nicest wife (I think they‘re divorced now) though. 4y
Texreader Parents of players on the other team who knew me would often come up to me during games and ask “Is that the guy from Criminal Minds?” Then my daughter went through the CM phase and had no idea, because she never paid attention to the other parents! 🤣🤣 4y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag Thomas Gibson (Aaron Hotchner on the show - he was the head of the behavioural analysis unit). I think he kicked a producer or something. SMALL WORLD!! That‘s hilarious that she didn‘t recognise him at all, after the fact. He was also Greg in Dhama & Greg... (edited) 4y

When I borrowed this book, I didn‘t realize Gubler was the author. It‘s a wonderful book. I‘ve a Criminal Minds crush on him.

Ending my #readathon today at 2h 10m. I finished 4 children‘s books and made progress on The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Andrew65 I need to read the hunchback! (edited) 5y
jb72 @Andrew65 So far I‘m actually enjoying the story. There are some tangents to be sure, but overall so far so good. Plus it‘s made me chuckle a few times. 5y

My kid picked this out at the library, loved it, #recommended that I read it too. So cute! The story of a monster who is “weird” so he lives underground away from people. But then people each out and we have a happy ending with a great positive message. #bbrc #middlegrade also 1pt for #teamslaughter for #scarathlon

😍😍😍

I absolutely adored Rumple!! I highly recommend the audio. It is only 12ish minutes long, narrated by the author & he does voices.

Finally got my hands on this book. It is so cute!! Definitely recommend. It‘s a picture book, but a long one, so it could work for both early readers and middle grade. Bringing it home for my kiddos to read before I return it.

You know the feeling when you discover that your childhood TV crush created the cutest illustrated novel ever? Just me? Rumple Buttercup (F) by Matthew Gray Gubler (of Criminal Minds fame) wrote this book that‘s great for late elementary and up and deals with the feeling of not belonging and discovering that everyone is weird and that‘s what‘s cool about being a person, or whatever Rumple is, even if you are friends with actual trash. #LAE3414sp19

cwright http://www.readwritethink.org/professional-development/strategy-guides/supportin... I think this would work well as an IR, especially when recommended someone who you think may need it. This book is so precious. It's sweet, funny, and it made me emotional.
It's always great for a child to learn that we are all different and special in our own way.
I think it is a must have for your children's book collection.

(I'm low-key hoping they start making plush Rumple Buttercup toys with detachable banana peel)

kaysworld1 You should write to the author he's very active on social media 💛 5y

I don't normally pre-order books due to bad experiences with a certain website in the past, but once I heard my favourite person in the world was releasing a book, I knew that I just had to pre-order it. And then when my local Waterstones gets it in early it just makes the day even better.

Cannot wait to read this, it's going to be my next read.

If I want to pre-order a book in the future, I know who I'll be using.

CBee I LOVE MGG 😍😍😍 6y
HerBookAffair @CBee Me too! I couldn't believe it when I found out he was releasing a book 😍😍 6y
