Well. Short punchy chapters that jumped from character to character really kept the pace and suspense alive. This was one of those books where I had to cover what was coming with my hand as my brain desperately tried to jump ahead to find out the truth. I had an inkling about who done it but couldn't be sure. Excellent story.
Rewarding myself with some reading this afternoon after cleaning the house this morning. It feels deserved!
If it's good enough for the legend that is Ian Rankin then it's good enough for me!
When I pre-ordered this one, I had expected it to be a continuation of the series Cummins began with her debut novel, The Collector. But, this is a standalone thriller set in The Avenue of Essex- with a quaint #BookishMap masking the number of secrets in this little strip- and a serial killer on the loose! The style as it alternates between past and present takes some getting used to, but it quickly becomes another hard to put down read!!
The multiple narrators worked extremely well in adding to the suspense!
