The critically acclaimed author of Felix Yz crafts a bold, heartfelt story about a trans girl solving a cyber mystery and coming into her own. Zenobia July is starting a new life. She used to live in Arizona with her father; now she's in Maine with her aunts. She used to spend most of her time behind a computer screen, improving her impressive coding and hacking skills; now she's coming out of her shell and discovering a community of friends at Monarch Middle School. People used to tell her she was a boy; now she's able to live openly as the girl she always knew she was. When someone anonymously posts hateful memes on her school's website, Zenobia knows she's the one with the abilities to solve the mystery, all while wrestling with the challenges of a new school, a new family, and coming to grips with presenting her true gender for the first time. Timely and touching, Zenobia July is, at its heart, a story about finding home.

I missed the last round (I have missed a lot of Litsy stuff lately), but I am back for #LMPBC Round 015 and taking letter U for the #lgbtq+ books again 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ (I mean it‘s still Pride Month, even if this round starts in July).

Sign ups close soon! But go check out @suvata for details (there are still other slots available as well).

Book mail from today! These are used books from Better World Books. They were having a sale on used books a few weeks ago and I‘m psyched at what I was able to pick up. Do you see any that you‘ve read?

In the home stretch of the semester at work, and then I really hope my winter break can be cozy and bookful! 💗

Zen deals with the social pressures of middle school with the added pressure of gender dysphoria and grief. I thought this book was a fun read. Zen is a charming character to cheer for, and I liked how the narration was written to give readers a close look at her racing mind. A few times I felt like the writing was awkward, especially in the first chapter, but overall I felt like the style was well suited to the character. #LGBTQ #MiddleGrade

dylanisreading Ohh whatcha playing? 3y
Kenyazero @Bianca haha, nothing this time! Zenobia plays an epic game frequently in this book, so I pulled up a screenshot of Fable (I think). (edited) 3y

I loved the how diverse this book was. I can‘t remember the last time I read a book where gay characters existed in a story without that being their defining trait. I loved the character development as Zenobia slowly became more confident as herself. The nicknames were weird but fun. 4.5⭐️

Kenyazero I'm excited to see you enjoyed this one. It's high on my reading list and I'm very much looking forward to reading it soon. 4y

I probably wasn‘t the target audience for this — but it is a nice coming of age story about Zenobia July, a transgirl who just wants to be accepted by her new friends in a new town. I didn‘t quite understand the hacking plot or game invented for the series, but that‘s why I said this wasn‘t targeted at me. That‘s one bingo square done. #lgbt #bookspin #bookspinbingo

there aren‘t many books i‘ve seen displayed about lgbtq+ kids, and i loved seeing representation. additionally, this was a great book! i loved reading about Zen and really understanding her thoughts and feeling from a third person pov. the story was intriguing and her aunties soon became some of my favorite characters. her friendships and issues made it super realistic. i really loved the book! amazing read. highly recommend.

I‘ve seen great reviews for this, and then it showed up today in an email from my local indie so I decided the universe was telling me I needed to read it. And, I need something kind of light after yesterday‘s intense reads.

This gets every star available!
I‘m gushing right now and can‘t get the thoughts sorted for a proper review. I‘m just really, really, really happy I read this.

Perfect read for Pride Month — Zenobia is a trans girl who is living with her lesbian aunts; she makes a new friend who is gender fluid; Uncle Sprink is a drag queen and it works so well.

So cool! From page 48.

65 pages in and I don‘t want to stop. This book is quickly becoming the star of June — everything after...I don‘t know. I‘m really loving this book right now.

New release: put it on hold about a week ago and was surprised when the email came telling me it was ready. Guess I was first in line. So far, I‘m really liking it 😊
