I wouldn't say I got lost in the faerie tale like usual...maybe it was the drug use or the mother who was sleeping with her daughter's boyfriend. I didn't get into it until the very end. It was an acceptable story. Is that bad?? Lol

"The tree woman choked on poison, the slow sap of her blood burning".
Still working on my #bookspin but got this one done. Not as good as tithe but I liked that it was dark and gritty. One off the board for #bookspinbingo
I was initially disappointed that this wasn't a continuation of Kaye's story, but Val won me over quickly and I loved this just as much. A LOT of drug use though.
Took a walk after work today with the tagged book. Got to sit and read for a bit, enjoying the autumn sunshine. 📚💕☀️ I love the way yellow leaves look once they fall from trees. So pretty! 🍁🍂
Finally got ahold of Valiant! I never read this as a teen because I was so irritated that the sequel to Tithe didn‘t include Roiben and Kaye but after The Wicked King, I figured I might as well get some more Faerie in before Queen of Nothing! I‘m not crazy about the narrator, honestly. I would have preferred Kate Rudd. Renée Raudman makes everybody sound like children. I do like the book so far though! ? #libby #hollyblack #faerie
This book was different and interesting; kind of gritty for a teenage fantasy novel. There were some good, unexpected plot twists and my favorite character, Ravus. His roll was unconventional for a troll.
"When a man tells you he's going to hurt you, believe it. They always warn you and they're always right"
Pretty good. Kind of different from her other books. But Holly Black always writes good books!
It‘s a cute enough story, and I love the writing. But as a huge fan of the first book, I was so hoping for more of Kaye and Roiben! I will take troll in the subway though ❤️ worth the read, and love the tie in to the original story as well.
I enjoyed this book, but slightly less than book 1. I had a few issues with the book, mainly the use of magic as a drug and how a character mentioned running away at 13 to live with at 22 year old boyfriend but it wasn't seen as a bad thing besides him treating her like a child. But I enjoyed the expansion of the world and excited to see how Book 3 brings the first 2 together.
One of my favorite #sophomorenovels. I adore this trilogy and should reread it. #jubilantjuly
