“As she lifted her head in hopes of the smallest of breezes to cool her blistering forehead, she hears a sound of wonderful, magical sound. Music.”
“As she lifted her head in hopes of the smallest of breezes to cool her blistering forehead, she hears a sound of wonderful, magical sound. Music.”
This is based on a German folktale and I like how the author retold the story but used insects to make it different and unique.
This book is really fun and silly for kids. It tells the story of an ant and a grasshopper exploring the sounds and music they are hearing. Very vibrant illustrations that are colorful and bright.
“All you ants do is work all day. You should be more like me and play, play, play!”
When winter comes the ant is prepared and the grasshopper is without.
The grasshopper plays his fiddle while the ants gather food. With his song he‘s able to convince one ant until the queen arrives and scares him back to work
-traditional lit
“It has made my heart much lighter” “and the music made everything brighter”

The pictures are a bit distracting for me and made it hard for me to read. With this being said, I still think kids would find it interesting.
This is a great book that I would love to read to my students. I love that the book talks about the effect music can have on people and how it brings human beings together
“Thank you for your beautiful noise. It has made my heart much lighter.”
I would read this book to my students when talking about how refreshing friendship can be and that situations are only as bad as let them be.
Genre: Traditional Literature
I really enjoyed reading this book and the theme that comes along with it: friends make everything easier. I loved looking at the abstract illustrations; they were a lot different compared to other typical books and were very interesting.
This would be a great book to read to a class because it shows diversity as well as helping other people. The band was grasshoppers and even though they weren‘t ants, the ant became friends with them and helped them out just like they did for him.
This book really shows that when you reach out and help other people, they will help you to. This book was really great at showing how being helpful is something everyone should do!
This is my third book read by Rebecca and Ed Emberley and I‘m in love with there illustrations.
This book is a tale about an ant working on a chore for her colony but runs into a grasshopper playing magical music. The setting was displaying being out in the tall grass and the adventures you can find in it. This cute tale sends a message that even with a task on your hand, you can still explore! Genre: traditional literature; Published: 2012; Illustrator: Rebecca and Ed Emberley
It‘s about an ant who‘s getting ready for a picnic and a grasshopper making music with his band.
Cute vibrant story that shows the beauty of friendship and music.
Traditional literature, 2012. Ant is working hard and getting worn out until she hears music. The grasshopper and his friends play music for the ant so she can keep going with her work to bring back to her family. Pictures are bright and well contested and fill the pages.
