Its been a good summer for forensics expert Dr David Hunter. His relationship is going well and hes in demand again as a police consultant. Life is good. Then a call comes from an old associate: a body has been found, and shed like Hunter to take a look. The empty shell of St Judes Hospital now stands awaiting demolition, its only visitors societys outcasts, addicts and dealers. A partially mummified corpse has been discovered in the hospitals cavernous loft, but not even Hunter can say how long its been there. All he knows for sure is that its the body of a young woman. And that she was pregnant. But the collapse of the loft floor reveals another of the hospitals secrets. A sealed-off chamber, still with beds inside. Some of them occupied... For Hunter, what began as a straightforward case is about to become a twisted nightmare that threatens everyone around him. And as the investigation springs more surprises, one thing is certain. St Judes hasnt claimed its last victim . . . With its viscerally authentic forensics, menacing atmosphere and nerve-shredding tension, Simon Becketts new crime thriller will leave you gasping.

Another solid one on the David Hunter series. Back in London, and David is living with Rachel. Everything seems to be OK with them, but is it? A former hospital, and current hangout for junkies, is about to be demolished. Then a dead pregnant woman is found in the building, and David is needed. He gets really deeply involved in the case, as usual. Intriguing, exciting and hard to put down! 🌠🌠🌠🌠

Crazeedi I started this series, Read book one so far! Looking forward to them 5y

This was so good. It has some incredible twists and the ending caught me by surprise. A fantastic thriller for #Scareathlon #TeamSlaughter plus it features a death and its part of a series so that's another two ticks in #ScaryScavengerHunt. 5* @Clwojick #Netgalley

I LOVED it !! Yes... it may not be the most thrilling book in the series but the last 100 pages were amazing 😍 I just think this author does an amazing job every single time 😌

I am halfway through this book and i like it so far... I think it should get more intense in the next couple of chapters. The Setting is cool... the old hospital you know? 😊 Maybe I will finish it today or tomorrow 😊

ju.ca.no Read my first Beckett today - Die chemie des Todes, and I found it very intriguing as well! Good to know that the series keeps being exciting😊 5y

Mehso-so

Surely it‘s down to me that this 6th David Hunter case is no “Pick” for me. Don‘t know why but I missed this “Can‘t-go-see-the-bathroom-need-to-continue-reading”-feeling. So I‘m sure Beckett did nothing wrong – but I wasn‘t sucked in as I expected to be after my sister had told me that [Xxxx] would happen. 😟

It was an entertaining read, no question (finished in 2 days) but I never caught the atmosphere.

But: Completely rooted for Star. 🤷🏽‍♀️

If you‘re reading about a fictional minor character – and secretly wonder if some of her or his flaws (which are invented) might also be your own.

Only that, if so, yours are for real and that makes them not as easy to deal with as an author does …

(Lesson: More of my current strain drops into my leisure time that I would care for. *sigh*)

“Hello
My name is Jessica.
You killed my commute and the other people.
Prepare to go back to work and now it‘s time for a new book.”

Anybody has objections❓😂

julesG Good one! 5y
Buechersuechtling @julesG When my mobile started with my name I was disappointed because I expected the rest to also be boring. But in the end it turned out to at least be funny at second glance. Lucky me. 😅 5y

Just imagine you have a sweet tooth and just read about someone who prepared a dessert.
you have no idea, what the dessert, a Meringue, is, but you think it sounds sooo tasty.
You look it up – only to find out that it‘s food in Germany known as “Baiser“. One of the rare sweet dishes you absolutely don‘t like at all.

*sigh*

It‘s the sixth and, as far as I know, latest, volume in Simon Beckett‘s “David-Hunter“-series.

But before I start reading and posting about that, look at the picture included in this blurb.

Isn‘t next week‘s weather wonderful⁉️☀️🥰
Temperatures from 78 F to 98 F.

I urgently need to figure out next week‘s salad 🥗 menu. 😍🤤

Day 30 - #mostanticipatedrelease2019 #anewchapter

I am anxiously awaiting book 6 of this excellent series!

Three years ago, David Hunter moved to rural Norfolk to escape his life in London, his gritty work in forensics, and a tragedy that nearly destroyed him. Working as a simple country doctor, seeing his lost wife and daughter only in his dreams, David struggles to remain uninvolved when the corpse of a woman is found in the woods.
