Palm Beach, Finland
Palm Beach, Finland | Antti Tuomainen
7 posts | 4 read | 1 to read
Jan Nyman, the ace detective of the covert operations unit of the National Central Police, is sent to a sleepy seaside town to investigate a mysterious death. Nyman arrives in the town dominated by a bizarre holiday villagethe "hottest beach in Finland." The suspect: Olivia Koski, who has only recently returned to her old hometown. The mission: find out what happened, by any means necessary. With a nod to Fargo, and dark noir, Palm Beach, Finland is both a page-turning thriller and a black comedy about lust for money, fleeing dreams, and people struggling at turning points in their liveschasing their fantasies regardless of reason.

I enjoyed it. Took me a while to get into. Don't think I was concentrating early doors and was finding it hard to keep track of thw characters.

Next read . . . Off to Finland for an unusual sounding thriller. Finland is one of the best places I've been 🇫🇮

This was another darkly comic crime novel set in Finland, where a developer has set his sights on turning a stretch of chilly beachfront property into a Florida-inspired resort. Jan, an undercover cop, poses as a vacationing math teacher when an unidentified man winds up murdered in a neighboring house. Think Fargo meets Carl Hiaasen, with a uniquely Finnish flavor. This is the second book I've read by this author; looking forward to the next one!

Today it was time to prepare the Argentinian sweet bread again which is traditionally eaten during the Holidays down here. Orange/lemon/vanilla flavored sweet bread with nuts, almonds and candied fruit. 🤗 #ambaking #pandulce

I guess my cookie decorating skills aren't exactly up to standard, but it is the thought that counts right? 😅😂 Also: sorry ginger cookies fans, but these are actually #speculaas flavored cookies. 😁 #dutchcookies #ambaking #christmasbaking
