so-soThis book addresses gender stereotypes in the illustrations while maintaining them in the rhyming. I was hoping for this to push the point that anyone can dress like a girl. But it doesn't. I was underwhelmed.

I really wanted to like this book. The ending made up for a beginning I hate. The beginning says that there are rules to dressing that girls need to find their own ways to “adhere” to. And then the next few pages are about wearing white or wearing a dress. I think it would have been better to explain while certain things are standard or considered proper than saying you must obey some arbitrary rule.
so-soThis one has some nice content with diverse illustrations and the idea that a little girl can dress and grow up to be anything they want. However I wasn‘t enthralled.
