This series is growing on me. Charlie is still kind of a judgmental busybody in this book but it kind of works. I skipped a few so eventually I‘ll go back to the beginning.

Charlie signs up to audit a class at his university. By the second session one of the students has been murdered and by the third session the lecturer has also been murdered.
Despite references to Jessica Fletcher in the book, nobody has drawn the obvious conclusion: if Charlie enters your social circle, get out fast.
Just started reading this today. I'm sure it will be as nice as the other books in the series.
I believe it was this book cover which so delighted my new boyfriend this weekend at the bookstore. He mainly reads nonfiction and had never heard of a cozy mystery! We spent ages just going through cozy titles and giggling at the puns.
This entire series is wonderful. Miranda James is an excellent author. Her characters are some of my cozy favorites.

I read this immediately after Six Cats a'Slayin' - because for some reason I'd missed one. Loved the appearance by the Ducote Sisters, who are my favorite crossover characters. The book reads like one of the classic mysteries, where they get everyone in a room until someone either breaks down and confesses, or goes bananas and tries to kill everyone. Loved it, as always.
This story had plenty of moving parts, quirky characters, & the right amount of drama to make it an interesting cozy mystery. There were parts that felt slow to me, especially at the start where much was about Charlie‘s habit of being nosy & speculation about the personal lives of the professor & his wife, but it quickly picked up. It was a dramatic tale of the dark turns love can take but it was kept lighthearted by Charlie & his pal Diesel.
