Not very Christmassy, but certainly plenty of snow in this English country house murder mystery. #WinterGames #MerryReaders
All the essential elements are here - a remote country house, heavy snow, unfriendly house staff, group of strangers, and a death. Add in a plucky, sensible young woman, and some humour..make this a good, cozy murder mystery read. Interesting cast of characters, and entertaining story. I look forward to read her other novels.
This is not as the title suggests, another little Christmas murder mystery. There's snow. Lots of snow. It's a decent enough country house murder in Yorkshire but I was disappointed. The main characters, Dylis & Inigo were very good & by book's end, weeks later they're headed off to her family's home in Worcester, for Christmas!
Although I remain unsure why Christmas is in the title (it‘s mentioned only once in the last chapter), I quite enjoyed this - even though I didn‘t quite crack the case - and indeed got swept up in more than one red herring, I did call the ending! This was originally published in 1947 - so the author was a contemporary of our beloved Agatha Christie!
