In this suspenseful and heart-pounding novel from New York Times bestselling author Lucinda Riley, an ambitious young journalist unravels a dangerous mystery that threatens to devastate the British monarchy. Keeping secrets is a dangerous game. When Sir James Harrison, one the greatest actors of his generation, passes away at the age of ninety-five, he leaves behind not just a heartbroken family but also a secret so shocking, it could rock the English establishment to its core. Joanna Haslam, an up-and-coming reporter, is assigned to cover the legendary actors funeral, attended by glitzy celebrities of every background. But Joanna stumbles on something dark beneath the glamour: the mention of a letter James Harrison has left behindthe contents of which many have been desperate to keep concealed for over seventy years. As she peels back the veil of lies that has shrouded the secret, she realizes that shes close to uncovering something deadly seriousand the royal family may be implicated. Before long, someone is on her tracks, attempting to prevent her from discovering the truth. And theyll stop at nothing to reach the letter before she does. Full of salacious scandal, shocking twists, and captivating romance, and written in Lucinda Rileys signature vividly drawn and lushly atmospheric (RT Book Reviews) prose, The Royal Secret is a full-throttle escapist adventure (Lancashire Evening Post).

Decent book. You can tell it‘s one of her earlier ones. A lot of twists and turns. Quite the mystery with some romance thrown in. Joanna is a reporter sent to cover the funeral of a famous actor. She ends up helping a lady named Rose who is visibly shaken by someone she sees. The rest is a roller coaster of a ride!!!

Crazeedi Yes I read this one, titled "the love letter", but it was the same book, very good! 5y

When I say that this book kept me guessing until almost the end. There‘s a red herring that sticks around for quite awhile until the big reveal. If you like strong female leads, mysteries and romance plus a little Royal intrigue, this book is for you! @SimonSchuster

New arc from #netgalley Gimme some Royals anytime! @SimonSchuster This book actually has an interesting backstory! It was originally written in 1998 and was supposed to be published in 2000 but amid fears of disapproval from the Royal Family, the publication was cancelled. I can‘t imagine how devastating that must be for an author!

I was excited to win a signed advance proof of The Royal Secret in a draw Lucinda Riley did on Twitter, and just finished reading it. Family drama, Royal history, intrigue, the London setting, a little romance... fans of Lucinda Riley are going to enjoy this one!

“I could tell you the secret but then I would have to kill you!" Joanna, a reporter, is asked to cover the funeral of Sir James Harrison, a famous actor. She stumbles upon a mystery that could devastate the British monarchy. Joanna is followed by secret agents. The book is packed with romance, mystery, history and conspiracy. Highly recommended to those who love to read about the royal family. I would like to thank Atria Publishers for a copy.

I was just contacted by Atria books to read Lucinda Riley‘s new book which is coming out in May 2019. They are sending me a copy which is great because I prefer physical books. Looking forward to reading this one!

Andrew65 That is what you call a result 😍 @ephemeralwaltz 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 I see it has not be getting glowing reviews. They contacted me from Goodreads because I loved The Orchid House. 6y

EadieB @ephemeralwaltz In my review of The Orchid House I mentioned that she was an excellent writer and I guess the publisher was looking for someone who liked her writing. I was surprised to be contacted. I am a member of NetGalley but this book is not offered there. 6y
