The Blue Salt Road | 
so-soNot really my style of book. I liked the fairy tale esque feelings in the book, but I get really uncomfortable when books focus on specific aspects of childbirth or raising children, so that detracted from my experience. I'm pretty sure most people would enjoy this more than I did though!

pickBeautiful and most of all haunting. I found it impossible to put down, even as all the characters made mistakes and hurt each other. I loved the hopeful ending and it truly earned it!
pickThis story, told as a fable, interweaves ideas of community, heritage, survival and humanity. I loved the power of the sea, you really feel the break of the ocean and the swell of the waves. The human acts are often violent and brutal, as people make choices that are often very sad... grab a blanket, and a mug of chocolate and enjoy this retelling of the selkie.
Ps...the illustrations are absolutely gorgeous!
It‘s cold outside, dark and raining...perfect afternoon to loose yourself in a modern fairytale. ❤️
