I liked how this was different to the ones before. I am also fascinated how fast I read through the books in this series.

What a ride! I've liked each book so far in the series, but this one stands out.
i was depressed because utred has died in the beginning of the book and I lost the will to read, then every thing changed and utred came back to raise my morale.
Cornwell continues to find inventive situations in which to put his hero, Uhtred, as well as creative ways of getting him out of trouble. You‘d think after the previous 7 novels in the Saxon Stories he‘d run out of ways to write about mid-evil battles and sailing, but he has not. He continues to follow the history of England, taking artistic liberties with how the characters interact with each other. A very enjoyable read for this time period.
#TBRtemptation post 3! For "Game of Thrones" fans. The eighth installment of The Saxon Stories series, which has inspired "The Last Kingdom" tv series. It is a 4.36 GR rating! Britain, early 900s. A land in turmoil and chaos. An empty throne in Mercia. Who will succeed? The king's sister, Athelflaed? Out of this instability, a hero will rise to destroy the Viking invasion threat and alter England forever. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook ?
