While this was a murder mystery, it wasn't a thriller. Juliet, the main character, kind of drove me nuts with her apathy and self loathing. I kind of figured out who-dun-it pretty quickly and why, but it was am ok read. This was at the top of my Goodreads TBR for years.

Excellent mystery that's also an interesting look at how girls compete in high school. Also a good look at who's considered a "loser" and a "winner" come reunion time. Narrator cleans motels, & you have to live in her sadness for a while, but it's worth it. (Note that it's more read-worn than my parenting books-oops.)

Love LRD. She's fab at pacing and detectives-who-aren't-really-detectives. Juliet investigates the murder of her one time rival/friend after she dies mysteriously at the roadside motel where Juliet works.

Today was a kick in the pants. Beer, a good thriller, and a challenge from Liberty always help turn things around.

I'm a fan of Rader-Day. She's got a sharp wit and a good mix of mystery and thrills.

I've enjoyed both of Rader-Day's books! They're mysteries but not graphic. There's more character development. Excited about her third novel!

Moby says the book smells good. I say that it's a wonderful read. I love thrillers with substance. This one tackles identity, friendship, secrets, abuse, and adolescence.

I'm excited to read Rader-Day's second mystery novel.

I think I'm going to start trying to read all the books nominated for the Edgar Award... for the most part, those winners haven't let me down. Might as well trust the nominees, too.

It was a little slow in the beginning but the ending was fast-paced. I thought the author handled Juliet's emotional journey well.

I would never have kids. The disdain was just too much.
