Welcome to Litsy!

I‘ve been working on this since October—it was one of the texts for my EfM group at church. It‘s made up of essays from several scholars, and some I liked far better than others. But overall, it was a lovely companion to our Hebrew Bible Intro textbook (which I didn‘t like much). I appreciated having some balancing perspectives when struggling with the harsh/dominant patriarchy of the Old Testament. LOTS of resources for further reading as well.

It‘s been a fantastic weekend, with a powerful “Quiet Day” retreat at church yesterday and a wonderful service this morning. You know you‘ve found the right church for you when your pastor concludes her sermon with a Mary Oliver poem... from a book you gave her. ❤️ Now I‘m settling in on this rainy Sunday afternoon with some hot tea and feminist perspectives on the Old Testament. Also: apparently I like to color-coordinate. 😁

I‘m cuddled up in my reading nook with some serious reading to finish, before I get back to the fun reading. I definitely have a color scheme going on here!

I‘m starting a course through my church this year, and the first meeting is on Monday. For first-year participants, the focus is on the Old Testament, and the overall theme for the whole group is Living Faithfully in a Multicultural World. These are the books for the year, and I‘m so excited to dive in! It‘s going to redirect my reading a bit for the next few months, but I don‘t mind at all. 😊
