An often tragic tale of a woman who yearns for the freedom of the plains, but is forced into female-appropriate roles in the communities she interacts with. The sketch-style art is serviceable, but rarely memorable. As a fan of graphic memoirs, though, it is an excellent offering.

I'm so infatuated with this new comic shop my sister-in-law took us to last month in Michigan that I'm trying to find a way to visit again next weekend before an obligatory wedding. Comic shops are more fun than weddings, right?!? Vault of Midnight also has THREE locations and they are women led 😍💪🙌👩‍🏫! I had read 'This One Summer' prior to visiting the shop, but had to own it. Calamity Jane was an impulse buy that I still need to read 🤩.
